September 4th: I register and submit a domain
Status: pending logo design

September 13th: guy named Justin registers and extremely similar domain, only difference is and "o" changed to an "a"
Status: on front page today

I don't want to say his full name in case he didn't do anything wrong, he does not appear to be employed by BB and barely has any domains with them. Just seems very odd.

Your name should be online soon.
The 2 names I submitted on September 10th and 12th were published a couple of days ago.

I just registered and submitted 44 great names imo, really curious how this will turn out

Hey folks,

I announced my first sale about a month ago, sorry for the delay in getting the details to you! We had to wait for the Transfer Lock to end so that we could transfer the domain, then the transfer and payment processes took a week or two themselves.

Domain: M/E/D/I/A/S/P/E/N/D/.com
Background: Picked it up ~3 months as a Pheenix backorder. Roommate is in digital media and I frequently hear him use that term (similar to the phrase "ad spend"), which references the budget a company has for their digital marketing campaigns.
Time Listed: ~1.5 months when sold
Porfolio Size: 32 domains
Selling Price: mid $2k

Wow A lot of posts since I was last here. I've been staying away, but can't pass making a few comments.

At least better than mine...lol... http://brandbucket.com/subjectivo

Your logo is pretty bad, but well you know art is "subjective". Sorry I couldn't pass that up. :)

I understand that domain sales season picks up this time of year, but that still doesn't mean it's worth $260 to list my domains on their platform. Despite many requests from me and others they have yet to share anything worthwhile suggesting that sales are good for sellers of all portfolio packages (%-wise) and that the increase in domains has not impacted that sale %. Like I said, I want to list asap for the very reason that fall has always picked up for me with domains, but I don't want to waste $$ on something that isn't going to be worth it - I keep selling my domains outside of BB at a much faster rate - one last week and another being negotiated this week. I even sold one while on vacation a few weeks ago... but not even 1 sale yet with BB..

Svede, my story is much the same. After a rather tumultuous start and paying the price in approvals among other things, I refocused, launched my own site and do better than I likely ever will on BB. I don't have any complaints and I no longer make any requests from BB. I get what I get and if it ever becomes unbearable or I perceive it as very unfair, I'll quietly leave. Still, I think its good to have some domains on BB and I have integrated my BB portfolio on my site through their widget with a few mods.

EDIT: To be clear, my intention is not to wage war on BB or to antagonize. I genuinely want a reason to sell with them as I like a lot that they do. But I am a businessman and I don't sell blindly. It is in their interest to persuade sellers like me to sell with them.

Be careful with this as I can tell you from experience, you will pay a price.

Why would someone who studied for years in designing and is passionnate about it start selling domains?
With that logic everybody on the planet will do the same job .. the one that pays the most.

Don't assume everyone who makes logos on here has studied for more than a few hours. While i'm sure some have some very impressive credentials, the bar to be an approved logo designer is low. Nothing wrong with that as they are getting the quality and image they want. I for one have both domains and logs for sale on BB and I know there are others. they tend to be smaller portfolios, but if aggregated it would be substantial.

How many have you submitted previously? What's your prior approval rate?

Mediaspend is a very nice name....I would actually have expected it to sell for more. Can you say if it was negotiated down or what the original asking price was?

Thanks! They bought it at face value without negotiation. It was listed at the Brand Bucket suggested price.

In retrospect, I wish I had moved that slider to +20%. :D

Yeah, it's such a small amount usually that for most domains I don't think it would stop an offer from being submitted. I always go maximum, then back down to nearest $XX95.

I agree very nice and I would think it could have gone higher.

I agree.

It's a sad state of affairs when the BrandBucket Managing Director sells "Product // stack" and "Builder // ly" for more money than "Media Spend", a frequently used phrase in advertising.

But then again, when you have direct access to setting the prices, and positioning, it will always work in your favor.

I'm pretty sure you could have sold that one for much more through end user outreach @ApeXX . Did you attempt to shop it around, or was this more of a convenience to just list it and move along?

Congrats on the sale @ApeXX. I know where you are coming from with the price. I think the same thing a lot of times when I sell a name, and then I think to myself that maybe that is the reason it sold when it did :)

These names both sold for less than MS

Well I am the owner of voltso.com listed $1,435, voltsy.com listed after mine @ $4,495 and voltro.com @ $ 2,350.....difference justified ?

First issue, they should not publish very similar names thereby cannibalising other listings and second issue, pricing....well i can't always figure out the rationality behind the suggested pricing...it's all very unpredictable /irratic...

Voltsy is far better than Voltso and Voltro. Voltsy isn't worth $4,495 but it is a good name. Voltso and Voltro I wouldn't even handreg.

In all fairness you can get all the industry experts together to determine valuation for domain and bet is their valuations will still vary..

Same as some people will see certain domain with $x,xxx valuation, yet others will complain why the name even been accepted at BB

As with everything in life you will never get everyone on your side, but you can only do your best!
