Voting on brandbucket is still there but you can't get credits anymore to list your names. I don't think I will pay the listing fees if my names aren't shown on the front page when listed. Currently the only new domains that show on the front page are "staff picks" typically names that are valued over $2000, says a rep from BB.

It is pretty easy to make front page. I had 2 last week and currently have 2 also. I have the 1st one at the moment BTW :) ... CoolAnalysis !

But "making" the front page only lasts a day or two so it is not the end on the world not being there. I doubt it is really a valuable opportunity to show in front page.

BrandBucket now at 17,001 names. Added another 1,000 names in just 10 days.
It looks as if they are adding 100 per day. I understand they're a private company and don't have to disclose anything and they could probably stop right here and just sell inventory but I think at this point-adding all these names-BB should let potential sellers know if sales "ratios" are still the same with this many names as they were with less names. If they are or are increasing that's fine but if they aren't that's an issue. Being one of 17,000 is not great UNLESS they are selling more names than before-which they very well could be-if BB doesn't release this information one has to assume they're not selling more re the "ratio" and they're just collecting listing fees plus 30% whenever they do sell a name. Hopefully that's not the case but remember the founder's interview on DomainSherpa where she basically said "sellers should be happy with what they get if it's $2000 ( minus 30%) and they paid $10" (paraphrase).

I have had 30+ names listed on BB now for over a year, the only sale I made was for a front page listing which sold within 3 days of listing. Having said that, my experience shows it is very valuable as none of my other names are selling and likely not even being seen amidst the 17000+ other names.

So, I won't pay for listing names at least until I get some sales to justify the investment.

Actually it is very important to be on the front page (staff picks) because when someone visits BB for the first time they don't understand how anything works and especially don't understand the search features. When they land on page 1 they will probably continue to page 4 or 5 before they try anything else. This almost guarantees any name that starts on the first page will be seen for almost a week on the first few pages of BB. Most domains are not put on the first page and the only way a buyer can see them is if they sort by "Date Added", but who do you think really does that. For every 1 that lands on the first page there are probably 10 that don't so you do the math and figure it out. If there is about 50 names per page and you don't make the front page that means when 1,000 names are added every 10 days your name will end up being close to page 20 when someone chooses by "Date Added". So your wrong it is a death sentence to not be on the first page!

Ok. I never thought buyers were browsing page by page. If I needed a name for my company I would search by keyword or part of word that I want to see in my name. But I guess it is possible that some people just have no clue on the name they want and are browsing pages and pages of names.

It would be interesting to know the ratio of names that sold while showed on the first 10 pages versus pages 11+.

I think we'll see momentum slow down when many people run out of free credits, likely within the next few weeks.

I still have credits for 9 domains. Also finally my 2 more domains got published and 6 are queued to publish.

If,once published, my GreatBuddies.com or FundClient.com don't make the front page at least for a while there's something wrong. You are so very right about that front page-it's really getting to be very much like being on the first page of Google in search. Anyone who thinks it's not important is fooling themselves.

Where are we with regards to submission dates and approval/rejections?

Anyone watching the GD coupon thread? Looks like GD has in effect discontinued their .99 domain coupon program for the majority of users.

Combined with the return of BB's listing fees, I'm curious to see how this effects BB submission rates.

Very very happy about the $10 BB listing fee, and even more happy about no more godaddy coupon codes!!

Why? Because it is about 20 times more expensive than it used to be! That means people now have to pay about $20 PER name listed on BB :)

It use to be just one .99 cent coupon code and 5 minutes of voting. That means 100 domains would only cost around $100. Now 100 domains cost about $2,000 to Reg and list on BB

Couldn't be happier! It was toooooo easy before! hopefully the result will be less names on BB, BUT more high quality names! Time will tell!

(FYI- I buy most my names from drops and aftermarket, so the change has no effect on my strategy)

Much more that $20 per name listed on BB.
If a person has an average of 25% approval, he will have to buy 4 domains to get one approved. That is a total of $50 per domain listed ... compared to $5 (5 domains with coupons + no listing fees).

It is much more expensive now.

I was already paying $10 per domain but I only have credits for 6 more domains on BB now. I will soon be losing even more money.

Losing money? That's an odd why to look at it!

Don't you consider it 'investing' rather than loosing money?

We only buy new domains when we sell old domains. This eliminates the chance of investing new money.

Yeah it was a bit sarcastic. I consider it investing, but I am realistic, I think my chances of selling a domain on BB are slim.

At the moment, my only revenues in domaining come from 4L flipping. It pays for all my BB activities.
