"BrandBucket Accepted" auction are getting very popular lately.

Is it the $10 listing fees that make people not want to go the next step after approval and prefer selling their names?

From what I see, most of the auctions are sold BIN between $50-100. It seems this could be the best way to profit from BB.

Getting $100 right now ... or ... $1000 maybe one day, probably never. What is best?

I am too small to try it. I'll only have around 25 names published, I don't want my prices to be too high.
As mentioned earlier, my logos have be made very quickly lately (less than a month) so I can't complain.
The $10 listing fee for multiple names is what turns people to the auctions for BB approved names. Its not for me but I understand why they buy them-they know it ends up a BB listing-no rejects. It really shouldn't matter to BB either who lists the name I would think.

A domainer with tourette's?
This is what happens when you hit the button twice-it's that 4 years of Catholic school growing up.

Discussion on what actually happens is the most important thing imo, getting stats would be the biggest help for sellers, because then they could see their name got 20 direct typeins, 3 BrandBucket searches and 1 Google search. That way you know what is going on, evaluate that data for a few months, if direct type ins were the top traffic source maybe you want to pull the name, set up your own lander and save 30%.
Exactly.

You don't "get it" BrandBucket is a numbers game-period. Give them a lot of pretty decent names in volume and they'll sell some. Then decide for yourself if it's profitable for you or not. That's it-it's not more complicated than that. There is no way they plan to compute hits to names etc-why should they? They're swamped with names without doing it and being a private company they have no obligation to give anyone anything if they choose. Also, who would possibly type in these names?

More names means better odds for type-in traffic sales.
It takes about 1 minute to look at a page on BrandBucket and that's not analyzing each name and clicking on the description etc….that is just looking at the names. 313 pages at 1 minute each is 5 hours straight of a buyer sitting in front of a computer. That's 5 hours, and being efficient with your time, but in reality if you as a buyer look at 1 page and click on a few to see the description etc…it will take probably around 10 minutes per page. So for a buyer to look at every name it would realistically take them 50 hours to go through the whole entire list. Visualize for a second what 50 hours is. That's a work week plus overtime. Yes, I know they say that people choose names by keyword, but I for one when I am shopping for something that I am willing to spend $3,000 on then I want to see all of my options. Looking at 16,275 options is a bit much in my opinion but it is just an opinion. They used to say you can look at our entire list while you drink a cup of coffee. Now you need a 50 gallon drum of coffee to view the entire list.

I don't think anyone buying a name would even think about wading through every page on BB. Most of them have some idea of the sort of name they want based on what they want to use it for.

As an example, if you go to Sedo/Godaddy and search for "happy" you get several pages of happy.extension all at 'make offer', which is completely useless if you are searching for a name for your new business. If you go to BB and search for "happy" you get domains with the word happy, joy, jolly, fun etc all readily priced so you don't have the hassle of negotiation. I don't think BB is perfect, but in terms of searching for the right domain it beats the other markets hands down.

Two of my names published yesterday (dasono and bidego) were submitted on June 13th, so it took 40 days for the whole process (between 5-6 weeks). Not too bad.

But I still have one that was approved April 7th that is still in Logo design. So it is just over 15 weeks. That is a way too long. I have an other April 7th submission (Ormacio) that was only published yesterday too.

Yes, we will be doing a regular seller's newsletter where will discuss some things like top keyword searches, category queries, and some specific examples of a past sale or two...

How is this coming along?

I was thinking that an update on which "compartments" of the search tool are starting to become saturated would be nice. Like "right now we have enough names for home decorating businesses, event companies, and streaming services".

Same here-with almost the exact same dates. BB is a good outlet but you can't do business this way.

If I was launching a technology based startup and went to BrandBucket searching for a name it only gives me 3,280 names under the technology category. So out of 16,336 names there are only 3,280 that I can use for a technology startup? Not even close. For a niche website selling pure brandable domains, I and many others agree that their search feature is horrible. I understand that they are better than Sedo or Godaddy but these sites have millions of names and every single type of domain that anyone is looking for. When a site sells only brandables their search feature should be spot on and it's not and this what you hear most people complain about on this thread.

This is why I say that when searching for a name on BB you would be doing yourself an injustice if you did not look at every single name available to purchase. There are way to many names that are not even categorized right. Unfortunately this search would take you over a week working at it 8 hours a day.

Sold a name recently. M*O*B*I*A*G*O

I had a lull in sales before that, but I think I it was a learning experience. For anyone who is having trouble with sales, I'd recommend working on quality control for the names you purchase. If you purchase only high quality brandables, then they are more likely to sell. This is true whether they are made up brands or keyword based brands.

Care to be more specific on your learning experiences?

Most technology startups are not that generic. They specialise in an area... consulting, printing, mobile security, photo backups (examples taken from the tech news page of CNet today) or they have an emotion that they want to convey... smart, fun, fast etc.

100% agree that pure brandables can get lost in the mix and I really don't have any suggestions to improve that. What would your suggestions to improve this be?

Andrew-thanks for the post. Would you care to share how many names you have published on BB and how many sold over the past year or the % of published. Thank you.
