Donowrong.com. $16,000 anyone have a theory on this one? I just thought it was strange

Do No Wrong - quite a well know phrase, but not sure exactly what potential use cases there might be. That said, it is very unique, memorable, and fairly well known. Sounds like the type of name that would be used for a campaign. Some might query if it's really a brandable I suppose, but as a name I quite like it. Not sure I $16k-like-it, but nice name.

I disagree. By pricing their in house name so much higher it seems Zoomfull would sell first.
I disagree because Zoomful is the more trendy, hip spelling for a tech startup. Regardless, there shouldn't be two identical names on this site especially when one is owned by the house. It should have never been listed in the first place.

Send them an email and tell them what you think. I'm sure they will care

I agree, and FWIW I'd prefer Zoomful over ZoomFull any day of the week. TBH well done to them for finding far superior versions of names others have listed. Shame the owner of the inferior name didn't pick up the better version since it obviously was or became available to handreg.

Can we all just agree that 60 days approval time for domains is just way too long?

Zoomful wasn't available at the time Zoomfull was registered. Zoomful dropped and was picked up in March.

I just noticed an interesting fact. I was looking at my BB sales and i noticed that only one domain sold at the suggested listing price, all other sales i increased the suggested listing price. (This could just be a fluke.) I remember thinking to myself when i first started listing, should i increase or decrease or keep the price the same....

My conclusion: It doesn't matter, if you have a name that a company wants, they are gonna buy it.

Just a thought: A company goes and sees something they like, then just searches for available variations and registers those for a ref fee.
Another variation: A domainer (sometimes BB admins/owners) check the domains listed on the site and then go and register variations of those listed names.

So as an owner of for example zoomfull.com (or any other similar case) would you rather:
A) prefer the domain to be available for registration
B) be listed at double the price your is at

Choose wisely!

Your looking at things threw a 'domainers' eyes, not threw a businesses eyes. Your also looking at things with your wallet in mind, not theirs. Just remember that they don't specialize in domains, names, or branding.. they specialize in whatever they sell.

Real businesses with real investors or real funding want advise and guidance. Whatever their business is, that is what they are good at...However most are not good at deciding on a name, and they want a 'professionals' advise. I personally know dozens of business that have hired a branding firm to help them find the best name possible and that can cost 10K+

Try to imagine a board meeting where the CEO went out and hand regged a domain for their next product or business by himself. Thats not how it works... people hire professionals for a reason. Sure i could cut my own hair, but i choose to hire a professional.. I trust they know what they are doing and I'm willing to pay for it.

Last food for thought: when the tax man comes knocking... Do you think a successful business wants to have a $10 hand reg write-off or would you think they would rather have a 4K write off? ;)

to build up on your thoughts a bit ...
We've all seen even big companies give up on names because of a few $k or even a few hundred so my wallet or theirs.. no difference.
Do you think branding agencies prefer selling a handreg domain or one they had to buy for a few $k. The end user price will be the same, just the profit will be less. I'm not saying the CEO or somebody from the end user company will register names.
When the tax man comes knocking they can write off $4k for something else and still spend just $10 for the domain.

I can't help you if you still want to look at things threw the eyes of a domainer. But i will give two examples that helped me realize:

The first time i tried to raise $100,000 the investor laughed and told me it wasn't worth his time or effort to hire his attorney to create legal documents for a such a small amount. He also said that $100K wasn't thinking big enough... the 'vision' was too small for him to invest! The average funding right now is about 250K for startups.

I own an art school, and under pricing the art at art shows is a BIG no no! Rich people will see a price tag of only $1,000 and assume it must not be very special if its only worth 1k. When we price the same art at 5k+ we get more interest and more sales... This took me years to retrain my mind NOT to think with my wallet, but the more you are around successful people, the more you will understand they don't view the world as most people do.

Domainer view? Not exactly. I've been a buyer and seller. Pricing matters and when there is a middle man pricing matters even more.
Well... Here $100k is just fine for a startup so they can eplore the potential. More money can be given afterwards and such projects are common.
Under pricing? Yes, if the buyer wants this exact domain and nothing else, you can ask whatever yuo want. This applies to art as every piece of art is quite distinctive. Domains not that much. If one can find a similar brandable name for less, things might change depending on the price.

Anyways... back to topic. If a domain similar to yours is available. Go get that one as well. It might help to add the similar names to a domain monitoring list so if one is about to drop, you can get it. If you don't, somebody else will.

3/18/15 Submissions reviewed. Update 3/20/15 reviewed today as well. That's at least three days worth of submissions processed today, a Saturday. So maybe they are making a push to lessen their backlog?
