I have submitted 60 domain since march and never heard back. I hope to have a review in this month.

I think that we all need to remember that reviewing/accepting names is only a small PART of BB's business. They get inquires about domains everyday and they need to respond to possible customers. They sell domains everyday and they need to communicate with buyers on questions, pricing, paying, transferring names, and problems that arise. Customer service is time consuming and the 1st priority in any business.

They also communicate with logo designers, i assume they don't accept all logs, they might ask for logo revisions. They also have new logos designers who need approved or denied. They also have to upload logos and create descriptions, create tags, create categories, create possible business uses for each and every listing!

They also need to keep organized, pay bills, advertise, market, run social media, order supplies, and everything else that running a business requires. They do NOT just review names, and the probably VOTE as a team on the names, they probably check for trade marks, they probably check for different language meanings or translations, they probably check if the domains is too similar to their inventory.

Consider how many names they have accepted, and then consider how many names they have rejected. I see new names every day and for every name we do see, there are 6-8 other names we don't see. They still have a 'vetting' process for each name.

They run a very successful business, and we are the last priority. <-Rightfully so. They could stop accepting names for an entire year and still run a successful business off the names they already have listed.

Its easy to complain, but its also easy to be grateful. I for one am grateful BB puts thousands of dollars in my pocket almost every month. Life is what we make it, if we choose to focus on the small imperfections, then that is the life we make for ourselves. However, if we choose to focus on the big picture(our names selling) than that is the life we make for ourselves.

Cheers!

Thank you Jahfree. Excellent post!
BB has 3500 seller accounts. Unless you are one of the top 3-4 suppliers, your disappearance is probably not going to matter that much to BB because there are new people like me waiting to replace you. Margot is running a business and all the brandable marketplaces sell and give priority to their own names. Despite our illusions Brand Bucket does not exist because of us. It exists because Margot saw an opportunity to make a living in a niche market with her own names and others have copied her. She has invited us into the game, to get a piece of the pie, and like Jahfree, I am grateful for the opportunity.

They own the system so they are working the system. Everybody in the past week here at Namepros is so excited about them raising the prices of the domains they have submitted but don't realize that so many of the names on BB are so similar and that includes BB's own inventory. If they are raising the prices of everyone's submittals and keeping lower prices on their own inventory then which do you think will sell first. Remember a lot of the names are very similar and pricing is the only difference. You guys are not only keeping their ship afloat with the $10 entry fees but are making the house inventory look better with your higher prices. Think about it!

You do have the option of voting and can earn free listings. I had 4 listed and one was bought. It was a hand reg and I got over a grand. Not sure what your problem is with BB but if you don't like it don't use them. !

I'm putting a lot of time, effort and money into building my portfolio there because I like their sales and promotion processes and the support they provide to me. But I'm not overly impressed with how they've been handling the queue of late.

Any successful business has to manage their stakeholders, so I expect BrandBucket welcome the feedback they get here. If anything it's just a shame they don't have better communications with sellers, but I also understand they're unlikely to have spare resources lying around waiting for that job.

A question for you guys that have been with BB a while. Would you say your percentage of sales has dropped with the growth of the site recently?

Thanks

It's only grown by 10% in the last few months I don't see what the big deal is and how that could have a huge impact on sales.

I'm sure their end-user traffic is growing as well

@Keith DeBoer @Jahfree

Most of us are grateful and thankful to BB and like their sales and promotional activities like you.

I respect margot and her commitment and everything.

But I too not impressed with how they've been handling the queue of late like @Brandworthy said.

I may get rejection or acceptance no matter what but I need a review result asap.( doesn't mean few days but reasonable 15 to 25 days)

I Agree.

There were 10,000 names on the 15th April. There were 11,000 names on the 9th May. 10% added in a little over 3 weeks.

Most of those domains were their own or an ambassadors. That is likely to impact everyone elses sales, which is why I've asked the question.

I'd also like to add that on the whole I'm very happy with BB, I truly think it's a great concept that works very well for both buyers and sellers.

Watching them load up their own and their ambassadors handregs on the site that were registered AFTER my submission dates and my domains are still sat unreviewed in the queue is frustrating and making me crabby (and I'm guessing everyone else too looking at this thread).

I'll be honest - i register crap I wouldn't usually register just to submit it to brandbucket and hit the lottery hoping someone will buy this crap on there.

They have made virtually worthless domains worth thousands and deserve a lot of credit for really establishing this market.

I've just submitted some of my brandables. Let's see what happens. :)

One thing I've realized is that BrandBucket is most likely the brandable place with the best website.

For their own names it makes sense since the bottleneck is the review, and they obviously don't need to review their own names. What's grinding my gears is the (potential) knock-on effect adding substantial inventory to their own portfolio might have - it likely diverts time and energy which could otherwise be applied to processing the queue IMO.

I hope their business model stands up without the need for proprietary trading. I don't know if this is the case or not, nor do I know what their long term strategy is. But I do see many business risks as things stand now.

Branding is all about perception. You're adding intangible value to something through branding, and I think everyone would agree that when you see the nice logo and all the possible uses through strong visuals when visiting the BB parking page it's hard not to apply a higher than hand-reg value to each and every name they stock.

There was a day when names like Google and Xerox were probably considered "crap". Then someone came along and added a tonne of intangible value to those words. If all you see is crap, and you've managed to turn a buck, then I think it's probably down to luck more than anything else. Some people are just lucky, but that's not something the majority can rely on.

We are PlentyOfBrands.com.

Nice to see a newcomer to this market, but I'm not sure the economics of being a seller on your platform will ever add up:

there is a $10 monthly fee for maintaining your listing on our Marketplace

Or crap like "GoDaddy" is still crap. :)

A brand is much more than a name and a logo.

But yeah, I hope my crap sells on brandbucket and I'll keep adding to my pile of crap on there. They are a truly great marketplace.

A brand is much more than a name and a logo.

It starts somewhere, and the point of BB is that they nudge buyers a little further along that journey than just a word or letters written on paper.

At one stage in every successful brand's life they were just letters or words, then someone added a logo, then then someone built a lot more around that. But a name and logo are probably the most tangible elements of every brand.

Last but not least - one man's crap is another man's gold!

Exactly, we're in agreement here.
