Well I agree with you Kate its not new, but I think its also not out of sight. Brandables are probably a train that is still sitting at the station because it can handle more passengers. There are some recent handregs in the last six months where people have hand regged and sold for four figures. They would never have had those opportunities in one word or two word generic .coms to hand reg them in 2013.

Its risky and there is little liquidity so you have to be spot on with your regs and believe they will sell.

But brandables have always been.
They are not a 'new' opportunity :gl:
In fact, I don't think there are any 'new' opportunities in this business.

Domainers are always trying to catch the train when it left the station and is out of sight.
IMO.

Well some of us just discovered this niche. :)

Unlike other opportunities that might have been available to domainers only in the past, I hope you agree that anyone with a little talent and know how can still come up with a fresh brandable domain that can be as good or even better than those that we see that have already been sold on the Brandable sales venues. IMO

Equity78 is right. This train has not left the station and in my opinion probably never will. It takes a lot of creative effort to come up with great brandable names and the people that aren't creative are the ones that knock the brandable market. It's easy to play with keyword tools and have them tell you what the great domains are but if your not creative you absolutely cannot come up with great brandables. This market is wide open but it's absolutely positively not for everyone. Newbies don't waste your time there is no lottery ticket in the brandable business.

As an expert in markets & economics plus my domaining experience I have initiated plans (for past 15 days) of creating a new kind of a market. It is a surprise plan but as a hint I can tell that new market will exist from the fallout of the above market and nothing which has already been seen.

Till then GLWS :)

The internet has changed (as google changed their algorithm once again), gone are the days when having an exact word would ensure you ranked higher on search engines. Search engines want to give users a better experience with better results... and they should. Content and SEO is king, not the name anymore. So if you were a start-up, would you blow $xxx, xxx - $x,xxx, xxx on a exact match premium name?... or save the money and buy a nice memorable brandable name for $xxx - $xx,xxx and use the rest of the money on R&D, promotion and development.

Just try googling some premium one word names and see what shows on the first page.

good brandable's will always be good brandable's. the sub-par, marginal and crap brandables will be left at the next train station.

no, but interesting as it means they accepted from someone else, a name they already rejected. So..in all fairness to the original submitter (and all submitters), 'what' made the name now acceptable? :|...maybe that depends on 'who' now owns it..?!!

"Very interesting.." :? :alien:

I think it depends on who is reviewing it and the kind of day they are having when reviewing it.

maybe he means "for sale" somewhere else (like sedo, etc.) and not BrandBucket.
If it should be BrandBucket, its indeed strange, because the submitted names are usually recorded in your account and can not be submitted again (they are automatically blocked from resubmitting)

the person submitting names may play into it - but I don't think its based on who they like, its most likely the names they submit.

example:

Person 1 - he submits anything and everything in large batches on a regular basis most of them are crap and one out 50 get accepted, never had a sale

Person 2 - submits 1 or 2 names of higher quality every once in a while and has a past record of sales on the site.

which names (if you are reviewing them) are you going to give more attention to?

IMO

also, some times people's tastes change, I submitted a list when brandbucket first started taking name's.

I resubmitted some name a few years later and they were accepted.

It's for sale on BB. Someone else got it approved by BB today.

Margot is the only person approving names at Brand Bucket.

After I dropped the name someone else regged it and added to BB and BB approved it the second time around from a different account/person.

How is it possible to have a name rejected from one account, then a short time later get approved from an other account with a hefty $4985 pricetag?

Btw, I bought the name from eBay.

If thats indeed the case, its not nice and should be changed.

They should not only block names from re-submitting within the related account, but record the rejected names in their internal system so that nobody else can submit the same name again and the name should be automatically blocked when submitting again.

Now it would be even worse (obviously for you, not for the new owner) if the name sells for that amount.

You should be compensated by brandbucket for their mistake.

No-no, it was my mistake. I knew it was a good name, should have kept it. They should definitely change their policy on this, otherwise one could open up different accounts and start adding the same domains over and over again.
