Anyone know if Atom is going to leave Afternic too? They have the same issue, Afternic is now requiring the price on their platform to be the same as on the domain's landing page.

I generally trust Brandbucket, but I’m just not seeing how the last sentence - that removing the domains from Afternic will lead to more sales - is going to work.

Atom does not syndicate to Afternic; Atom sellers list independently using their individual Afternic accounts.

Yes, but the domains have to be listed on Afternic at a higher price than on Atom's landing page.

Atom isn't on Afternic to leave. They're working on their distribution network as well.

True (which is against Afternic TOS). But you asked if Atom would 'leave' Afternic. They are not syndicating to or from Afternic atm.

Fair point. Ok, so will sellers have to adjust their pricing on Afternic and will Atom accept that, or prohibit listing domains on Afternic? I guess we'll probably find out...

I asked my Afternic rep in January to technically support listing my Atom Premiums on Afternic. This is what he replied:

„If you are planning on using a for sale lander and listing on Afternic, we would definitely like to use the same pricing as you have on Atom, this because when brokers are negotiating it helps if the pricing is displayed the same across the board, if it's not then it creates confusion for the buyer and will often lead to more questions and potentially losing out on sale.“

This is what bothers me about what Margot did (and said). She could've allowed us to self list on Afternic at 10%+ (or 25%+). But no, she went the exclusivity route and even became an arbiter of TOS (saying she couldn't "condone" us breaking Afternic TOS).

On the other hand - I'm unclear what benefits Afternic provides these days beyond direct type-ins. They used to cross market effectively. But now, it's all cross marketing of alt TLDs and a trickle of names via Boost. So it may be while I'd prefer to list on Afternic alongside BB - she may be right that it won't matter much (or at all).

Logical move for both. Afternic just don't resell anything any longer.

Regardless of whether it's the right or wrong move "financially", I applaud BB for taking a stand against the 800 pound gorilla...

More like the competition Gd absolutely needs (or else they buy up everything in sight, including BB).
