Bought A New Computer Today...

After several days of computer lockups and not being able to access some sites (or the Internet at all), I finally decided to buy a new computer.. couldn't afford much, but figured the upgrade to XP and a larger HD would have cost almost as much so got one on clearance at Walmart for $275.. an Everex AMD Explora RS2800. Smaller footprint and quieter than the Compaq I had..

Aside from the pre-installed Norton Internet Security initially blocking my Internet access, it seems to be working ok.

Have been spending the day re-installing all my programs, etc and getting used to using XP vs ME... should be back in full swing tomorrow!

yeah i know some one who did ME to Xp it wasnt that bad, but i find it harder to do 98 to XP its a lot harder.

ME to XP was the change for me as well, you'll get used to it fairly quickly. Norton can be a pain but when you work the kinks out it will do its job pretty well.

Cant agree more...ME is very very VERY bad. You will get used to xp in no time and will be very happy you dont have to deal with ME anymore. Congrats on the new computer

Well, so far I find that it doesn't multitask nearly as well as my previous computer.. I'm used to having 5-6 windows open at a time, doing downloads in the background, etc. and this new comp doesn't seem too good at that. I also really find XP's interface somewhat confusing.. hopefully I'll become accustomed to it soon.

Probably because it only came with 256mb ram...Let me know what it takes I might have an extra stick laying around that I can send you free of charge for such a :great: :imho:

Finally got the bulk of what I need reinstalled in the new comp.. thought I'd deleted my cookies and bookmarks but found that I'd saved them to a CD after all to xfer over! Time for ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ now!
