He has a history of 1. Plus he didn't put much effort into the listing for how valuable of a domain it is. And when you are talking big bucks, who cares about when it expires? "REGISTERD AT DOMAINDISCOVER UNTIL JULY '08"

A 1 feedback seller and the only form of payment accepted is PayPal (no escrow?)...would make me think twice about bidding. Kind of funny that in the auction he indicates not wanting bids from people without feedback. 1 is not much better than 0.

I emailed the domain's owner to verify he knows the auction is happening and if so, that he will allow the transaction to be handled via escrow.

My personal experience bidding on names like this has been dismal, at best. The last time I bid on a gem at ebay (rex.com), I received an email from the real owner telling me the guy was a fraud.

I spoke with the owner via email and this is NOT LEGIT. If someone is a nice guy they could win the auction just to ensure someone doesn't get taken here. He claims to have emailed ebay and paypal but the auction remained up. Two things are wrong here.
1) An anxious buyer that uses paypal will possibly lose his money
2) If the name goes cheap it could cause people to project lower values on LL.com's

I've seen this several times on ebay. They really need to react before the auction ends not afterwards.

A name would have to be very cheap for us to bid on Ebay. We stopped even looking since they changed to hidden bidders. All the confidence is gone.

I saw this gem in eBay once and before I bid on it I contacted the owner and the owner was surprised that the domain was for sale. Then he asked the link of the auction.

A gem that good being sold in eBay always made think twice.

just to screw over an obvious scammer.

happens with cars all the time...

there are probably a few Toyota Supra scams on ebay right now

and a lot of times, youll see them at $777,000 or something :D

BO.com was on sedo... owner told me he didn't list it... so I made an offer and accepted the counter offer... just so the BO.com listing wouldn't be on sedo anymore.

The owner of BO.com is pretty upset... rightfully so.

eBay is now world's biggest marketplace for fraudsters, imho.

Why eBay hesitates to verify these type of fraudulent listings? Their marketplace is getting worse everyday!

Well, I contacted the BO.com owner,
he said he didn't list it on SEDO or EBAY.

So i offered $100K,
the fake seller countered at
$50K and I accepted it.

I called my contact at SEDO and he looked into the
matter, and said YES, this listing looks suspicous.

ONLY 15 seconds into my phone call, SEDO was able to verify
that the listing "looked suspicious"

WHY OH WHY, can't they take the 15 seconds BEFORE they list it,
and do some checking to see if the listing is legit or not.

SEDO and EBAY... doing nothing to keep their selling system pure.
