My personal preference is using wordpress. There are a variety of new themes all the time being uploaded and there are always a variety of new plugins that can be very useful. Once again this is just my personal opinion and it has served me and my clients well.

For newbie it’s much easier to set-up a blog with Blogspot, Once you’re set-up you can start posting immediately. However, to install Wordpress can be a major headache if you don’t know what you’re doing.
WordPress by far is the best, it is organised, simple/user-friendly, growing in features...

For paid hosting, I would recommend install wordpress. If you are going for free hosting, blogger is recommended. You can't do much on wordpress free hosting.

I recommend wordpress.

I use blogger and it works great for me. Wordpress does have more tools but for starters I find blogger easier to set up, especially for adsense.

All I can say is that Google l-o-v-e-s self-hosted Wordpress sites with relevant content.

Both Wordpress and Blogspot have their own good and bad but i would prefer WordPress compare to blogspot.

If you use your own hosting then go for Wordpress. It's lot better than Blogger.

If you are eventually thinking about moving your site from blogger to wordpress, wouldn't it be easier to start with the basics using wordpress and learn as you go? It really isn't that hard to figure these out and have great looking sites. You can do it!
