I would go for Wordpress you need to install like this: www.yoursite.com/blog and include some of the better SEO plugins to get the best effect and then the work really starts... i.e. content creation

Good Luck ;)

If you want to use Google Adsense then blogspot is highly recommended.
Otherwise you can go with wordpress. Both of them are search engine friendly.

Well both are good but for Google absence blog spot is good. Also blog spot has good themes in compare to wordpress.

Here's my advice for what it's worth...

If you're a 1st time blogger, use the free blogger platform, it doesn't have as many plugin's as WP but it has enough for a newbie to get used to the world of blogging.

After that if you feel like taking the next step, you can use WP, but remember that using WP requires you to have a hosting account unless of course you use the free wordpress site...

Self hosted wordpress on a dedicated server, limestonenetworks.com is my choice for hosting.

I say this because blogger is a pain for everything to make a functional cool dynamic website, just takes a ton of work, although their speed is great.

wordpress.com gonna cost you some cash for every feature, plus under their control and they can delete you on a whim, so go buy a domain name from godaddy , rent a server, upload wordpress and have a good reliable site.

If it's a money issue then you could try to find a decent shared server. Good luck with that.

WordPress rules is my world. I have used both and I would never use blogger again. There are so many advantages it makes sense for me to go with WP.

I prefer to wordpress because it provides lots of plugins which are search engine friendly and also help to invite traffic in bulk. It is also not complicated to use.

Wordpress on your own host. With Blogspot you have to follow their rules and you can get your blog deleted. Don't give away the control of your blog to somebody else. :)

Also there are Adsense ready themes for Wordpress and different ads plugins.

You may want to consider the migration hassle especially after you have built up your blog. Try to minimize shifting your blog around.. your readers will thank you for that.

Sincerely speaking, Wordpress causes my trust rather than blogspot because I've already experienced a number of drawbacks in the work of blogspot. Wordpress looks much more reliable to me.

For the plug in

Wordpress for all the plug ins that can make your website "work" better.

Some essential plug ins;

XML sitemap
All in one SEO
Anti-spam
Various Adsense

I'd go with Wordpress self-hosted since it gives you a lot more control and flexibility over your blog.

Migration is not an easy thing.
Even if you don't have any technical knowledge, you can go with wordpress. Just write content and publish. Nothing else.

Wordpress is the way to go. Get a domain name and host it on a server then use Wordpress. It has great support plus tons of plugins that you can use to enrich the visitors experience.
