Blog Script that fights spam?

Hello I had a blog my personal blog and decided just to close it down due to like 200+ comments that were just spam. I had to check everyday and even then it would take way to long to delete them all. I am wondering is there some kind of blog software that helps fight spam or makes it were people can post comments but I have to approve them or something?

I would recommend that you use the free serendipity blog system. It has excellent spam protection. You can download it at s9y.org.

Wordpress + Askimet does a decent job. You can configure most blogging software so that comments require approval before being posted.

I will second the askimet plugin feature of wordpress (its built in now). Filters very well and on my site I do not require approval for comments and only once in a GREAT while does a spam comment get through. Very nice little filter there...
