its really not the quantity of links that matter the most but quality. If they links comes from pages with no traffic or just comment spam for sure you wont get any visits.

I've made a fast backlink check:

- Thousands of very low quality backlinks, most of them from forums.
- No product/service centered.
- Anchors include a huge variety of poor/spam/scammy niches in different languages: "casino en ligne, acid reflux diet, how to win the lottery, agentie imobiliara, prima casa, inchirieri apartamente bucuresti, chwilówki zobacz jakie warunki, etc, etc".
- All the .edu backlinks are spam in forums talking about "casino", "pay loans"... in different languages (russian too).

I find domains like this almost every day. They are absolut crap, although they have 200k backlinks and dozens of .edu, .gov. In general terms, the more .edu backlinks, the more possibilities to be garbage. You must check the quality of the backlinks. Do not rely only in metrics.

In conclusion: Very, very poor quality backlinks in old forums that nobody visit, with crappy anchors that no one will click and, if someone does, will find ads with absolutely no interest and totally unrelated.
