People can hate him, hate Microsoft but it's undeniable that he's one of the greatest business men of all times. And it's really cool that he's donating that much money. I'd do the same if I was that rich :D

Bill Gates is an amazing businesman and has creating an amazing company and is giving back to society. Do other companies like Adobe do this? No? Nobody hates them - bleh...

He has over 1 trillion dollars.....no he doesnt, its approx $51 bn... and people always hate people who are more successful than them, IMO hes just very intelligent and had the foresight to see how big pcs would be, and hes a generous mane giving all that to charity!

He could keep it all to himself and donate nothing, right?

There may be a reason for him to only be donating 1-2%. While he may be worth $50 billion I highly doubt that he has it lying around the house or in the bank. That net worth is all on paper and due to his position with Microsoft he is not very liquid. Could you imagine what would happen if Bill Gates sold off even a few percent of his stock? The price of MS would plummet, the SEC would get involved and Martha Stewart would spend another 6 months in prison.

I am just glad that he is donating what he has.

people hate him because they're just jealous they didn't have the intellect or idea of starting a company like microsoft. My goal is to drop out of university in order to start up a company too.
