Big companies first to register their domains?

Do you think big companies like GE, EA, and GM were the first to register their 2 letter domain? Because that could get really pricey to buy it off of someone else

Big companies tended to reg their domains pretty early on. However, there was quite a bit of press in the late 90's about squatters who had beat some of the big companies to regging the domains. I am unsure what happened to most of the squatters. In the end, Congress ended up passing an anti-cyber squatting law based on these instances.
