according to bido, there is no longer any minimum price guaranteed to the seller. it is a true no reserve auction. from what i've seen so far, they have a good number of bidders (and i'm assuming the bidder pool is only getting bigger) so i wouldn't be concerned about the no reserve technique for most names. there are always exceptions.

Sellers definitely need to be aware of this change and very careful, especially as many Bido auctions ended very low ($11, $15, $22, $65, etc.).

Such auctions starting at $1 with no reserve and no guarantee can be very risky for sellers.

Those low sales prices give Bido virtually no commission; 8% of very little is a tiny crumb indeed.

I can't understand why they choose some of these domains,. (A little frustrating for those of us who have submitted much better names for their consideration ....)

Is anyone else having trouble with the transfers after they've won an auction?

DebtSpecialist ended with 2.35K i think. It was a tad lesser than i expected. Good name for sure.

I think there are many people who have submitted and have not heard back with a yes or no. That's frustrating when you consider that Sedo will reply to a premium auction submission within a day or two. Some better communication in that area would help a lot of us.

i submitted 50 nice names to be considered over two weeks ago and have heard nothing. no YES. no NO. has anyone submitted a name through the normal submission process and heard back anything? please share.

I have read before that Bido stated: If you do not get a reply back, that means your domain(s) were NOT accepted. They are in the process of putting an automatic system in place, but it is not done yet.

I forgot where I read that, but It was on Sahars site I think or in a comment he wrote.

i suspected that no reply equated to no interest.
i still would like to hear from anyone who submitted a domain through the normal process and received a response; especially if you received a positive one saying your name would be auctioned. will someone please share this experience?
i wanna know that domainers who are submitting names through the normal channels are getting some accepted.

If I take the time to complete the domain submission form I expect Bido to take the time to reply. Instead what I receive is a reminder email to come back and comment on the auctions as a domain expert.

I'm not inclined to help them add content and activity to their site if I cannot at least expect the courtesy of a

"thanks for submitting but we're not interested at this time".

There are some basics aspect of customer interaction that are simply not being met and until that changes I won't be spending any time at Bido as a domainer on either side of the table.

Hi Guys,

Please allow me to explain a little more about the current state of things at Bido. We have been very busy building a world-class auction platform as many of you have been along for the ride to watch it manifest and participate with us. Almost every day we roll out a new version. We constantly release new things and modify whats already there. We have built many automated systems and continue to do so. One of the things we have been working on is an autoresponder system to notify people if their names have not been accepted. Almost instantly your domains are being reviewed once they are submitted. If the domains were accepted you will quickly be notified and the listing process will be initiated.

Please keep in mind that a rising tide raises all ships. We are doing a lot for domain owners to make more money with their domains. We're on your side! Right now we don't have a system to automatically notify people if their names were declined. I agree perhaps that is unfortunate, but keep in mind its a temporary design nevertheless. Rest assured it will be improved. But do know that the website works and the submission form works 100% and your names, when submitted, are being reviewed. It is service to speak with owners of domains that were not accepted and thank them for their time, but it could easily become a "who's right and who's wrong" bickering and for anyone to be involved on either side is not fair for either party to debate. So, we realize it would be a service to communicate better and we're putting the effort to automate that aspect of it.

We have recently announced that there are no longer going to be weekend auctions, it is now 5 auctions per week. This will also greatly increase the amount of non-house domains as to date its strictly been house domains on the weekends with outside sellers' domains on the weekdays. I guess you can say that we sacrificed some domains to fill in these slots, thats the reason some domains sold for low amounts, if you look and see you will find they were weekend house domains. They severely weighed the averages and its just not necessary at this time to continue to run weekend auctions, for still further reasons as well. We experiment with direction, we're entirely proactive, and our ears are on the tracks. The entire process has been a learning process for all. Our intensions are good and if we fail to deliver a truly satisfying experience, please know that we're working on the improvements needed.

Of the 9 non-weekend upcoming auctions that are publicly viewable at http://www.bido.com/UpcomingAuctions - only one is a house domain. We have more in the pipeline that cannot be seen yet. Each and every of the upcoming auctions were submitted via the normal channel. We have still many more domains in the pipeline, beyond what you see there now, that will soon be announced and viewable on the above URL, and again, none of those are house domains and all were submitted via the same form on our website. It is as if we broke free from the mold, the kickstart is complete, and sellers who are ready to sell and trust the market and the Bido system are stepping forward and submitting their names for consideration. Anyone who wants to sell with Bido is more than welcome. The guidelines are clearly written and explained, and this is the link to review them and submit your names whenever you are ready: http://www.bido.com/SubmitDomains

Also please know that transfers are now moving along much faster, we have taken some steps here internally to ensure names are paid for in a timely fashion by both the buyer and Bido to the seller, and domains are delivered in a timely fashion when the domain has been paid for by the buyer and the coast is clear. We did have a name that took a little longer to transfer than we would have liked, and SkyMan for that we apoligize here in public. Other than your slow transfer, we have had quite a bit of positive feedback, much of it is viewable on our testimonials page here: http://www.bido.com/Info/Testimonials

Regarding the comments and notion if Bido is profitable, and how can we survive with one domain auction per day, Sahar touched on the topic two days ago here: http://www.conceptualist.com/2008/08/05/bido-the-countdown-starts-to-november-5th/ We think he's crazy for posting the date there but it's good to watch the date get near and certainly keeps us focused and in creation mode.
Thanks for reading and we appreciate the discussion.

still would like to hear from any NPer who has submitted via the standard submission process and has had their name auctioned.

are there any of you out there?

i know there have been a couple NP members who had their names auctioned on Bido but they had special circumstances; meaning they did not have to submit their names via the normal submission process.

is there any NP member out there that can say they submitted a domain the normal way and it was selected to be auctioned? Anyone?

Bido wants you to believe that they will consider your domain(s) for auction but i haven't heard from ONE NP MEMBER who who has submitted normally and had their domain accepted.

Last call to any NPer who can prove me wrong.

Hi SkyMan, the domain you purchased was pushed to an account for you. Please check your email. An ICANN lock was the holdup and the reason we needed to create an account for you, and we are sorry for the delay. This is an atypical situation and we're glad it was realized and now corrected.

Hi ABCproductions, we have accepted many domains from many people!
Sahar touched on this in his blog a couple of days ago in the post here:

i asked if any NP members could verify that they submitted names in the normal fashion and had a name accepted for auction. NOT ONE NP MEMBER HAS COME FORWARD AND SUBSTANTIATED THIS.

again, i will ask ALL NP MEMBERS, has any one of you had a domain accepted for auction by Bido after submitting it in the normal way?

it's pretty enlightening to know that not one NP member has come forward to say they have had a domain accepted by bido after going through the normal submission process.
