Better to purchase registered domain?

Hello all,

I have recently purchased 14 domain names and parked most of them at Sedo. I have a couple parked at GoDaddy and am not impressed by their parking program (especially because it costs money!).

My question to more experienced people: For parking revenue, is it better to purchase a registered domain on the market or to come up with your own name and try to market it?

Thanks,

Nick

Parking is intended for domains that already get traffic.

On an aside, the parking companies should post this in bold print somewhere on their homepages ... it would greatly cut down on the confusion / abuse of their services by people unfamiliar with the acceptable practices of "parking".

Getting back to the question at hand ... a newly registered domain is unlikely to get any meaningful traffic and thus a registered domain that already gets traffic is ideally what you want in order to earn decent parking revenue.

Even a few real visitors (not bots, etc) per day can be worthwhile depending on the subject matter - ie. a financial related domain.

On a related topic, my suggestion is stay away from "typo" domains, trademarked terms, company names, etc. Stick with generics whenever possible.

Hope this helps.

Ron
