Best strategy to sell a domain name portfolio

Hi,

I have about 100 .com domain names (no dashes or numbers), they are mostly dictionary words followed by the same word. Some are misspellings and variations that I bought to protect some of the domains. In my mind this is a valuable porftolio which has valuable names which are worthy of premium type auctions such as moniker. I get about 4 or 5 offers for domains in this portfolio every year, but I always recline them as I bought most (if not all) of these domains with the intention to develop them.

My question is: What is the best strategy to sell a portfolio with these qualities?

I can give you a list of the domains by PM for you to have a better idea and answer this question with a bit more information, but I want to keep the list of domains and details about them private. I am not looking for a valuation of the portfolio neither.

Thank you very much in advance

You mean like wordword.com, domaindomain.com?

Yes, you certainly could contact Moniker, would not hurt anything. You might want to post a few samples in the appraisal section, just to get an idea of the market. The more knowledge you have the better your decisions.

I think you should put it for appraisal...
you can put it on auctions too at your favorable asking price.

No, the portfolio is more like the following (just an example, I don't own any of the following domains):

giftGuide.com
domainGuide.com
marketGuide.com
profitGuide.com...
... etc

I don't want to have them appraised publicly, and potentially I would like to put them all for auction at the same time, and only once, where they could get the maximum exposure.

Most auctioned domains do not sell (they do not meet the reserve price). You would need to place a reserve on each to protect it from selling too low, and the auction house may pressure you to set the reserve lower than you should (they make nothing if it does not sell). So you need to know as much as you can to set your reserves.

The auction house usually locks up the domains for 2-3 months, so you may be better off working with one of the people here to place your domains with a large investor or two. Depends on how long you are willing to take to sell them and how much of your time you are willing to spend. You will likely get a greater return the more time you spend.

You're strategy for selling a portfolio of names should be to sell them off individually. Very rarely will you get top dollar for a portfolio of domains. The weak domains tend to diminish the value of the strong domains. The live auctions are always a good place to start.

Is it a good idea to expose your entire portfolio or to just show samples and if inquires are made then issue them the entire portfolio? I am torn what to do.

Response. I understand this point, as maybe the only entity interested in a portfolio of names would be a reseller or a domain investor, who would look for different metrics and have different objectives than the end users of the names combined.

Response. I've actually been thinking about exposing the domain name portfolio for a while, and giving the idea of a portfolio of these names time to mature, and then putting them in some sort of auction.
