I'm interested in feedback on which topics/subjects of websites will generate most traffic? For example, will real estate draw more users than say, travel? I did see an interview with an SEO "expert" where he said the best performing topics were:

1. Real Estate
2. Travel
3. Law
4. Finance

Although not mentioned by the expert, I would have thought Medical topic sites would have scored well also. However he didn't mention them.

By best performing I mean most likely to draw most PPC or CPM traffic, using some original content and an ad network (whypark site, for example).

Any suggestions, thoughts or links to more info appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

you're probably aware that traffic levels are based on a variety of factors that include (but are not limited to) domain name, topic, number and relevance of keyterms, inbound links, and plain dumb luck. In one of my special interest areas (watching the blogs that blog about blogging) it is mostly about inbound links and content quality. There are limits to traffic levels for any niche, but I'd be surprised if most niches do not have enough potential traffic to make a lot of money (six figures) through PPC and affiliate programs.

Cheers, Andrew

I suspect that in topics where there is one or several very big dominant sites, such concentration of draw will drain traffic from lesser sites.

An example would be finance.yahoo.com for stocks.

So, if there is an equivalent of a google for real estate as there is for search, dominating real estate information and attracting the lion's share of visitors, I doubt real estate will be as high performing a topic on the list.

It is not easy to create a second YouTube site and expect to make a dent in YouTube traffic, for example. Innovation and implementation are the keys for future breakthroughs, as always.
