  • .COM if you want to attract global buyers/businesses
  • .ccTLD if you want to attract local buyers/domainers/businesses
  • .new gTLD if you want to just park and get revenue from ads and sell after next 10 years!

Have a look at the latest daily sales. See how many .coms sold, then look at the other extensions. .com sells way more. NP produces a daily summary chart of what sold, and more detail is available at namebio.
Sure, I will try to keep watching this space.

Thanks!!

Although .com's are the obvious choice and the nGTLD's should be avoided until you've got enough knowledge and experience. I would suggest focus on ccTLD's particularly, not because they sell more than .com's (which they don't!), but most of the good word combinations you can think of might be gone in com but available in ccTLD's. But bear in mind much more patience will be needed to sell them.

Remember to keep in mind that what you are most interested in is two things...
  1. What is the probability that a given name will sell?
  2. What is the net return after all acquisition and holding costs?
While the vast majority of names that sell are .com, so are the vast majority of names that are listed for sale. So just browsing a list of sales will not tell you number 1 by itself.

Starting with .com is in one way wise because there are regular sales, it is stable and highly esteemed and perhaps most important to a new investor every type of names sell in .com. In other extensions, especially new and generic country, there often is a narrower type of name that sells for much, such as only single word or very short in some cases.

However, there may be advantages in your own cc since you may have connections and know that market well and also can access

The very fact that most investors invest mainly in .com may open up opportunities in other TLDs.

It is always important to take advantage of every bit of special expertise you have. Like if you are tech strong, it might make sense to include one or more of .io, .ai, .tech, .dev, .app and others within your overall portfolio.

So, while advice to start only in .com is definitely supportable, and most sales will continue to be in .com for the foreseeable future, some diversification in a smart and informed way may make sense as well.

Thanks for asking an important question @Sandeep123000 and best wishes in your domain investing career.

Hello Nononsense123, I agree with you I have to keep patient if I am investing in ccTLD hence
will it be a good practice if I create a portfolio of 70:30 ratio where I will keep 70% - ccTLD's domains and 30% - gTLD domains?
