The practical and straightforward example is:

Bitcoin.org - The actual foundation (community) behind bitcoin as a token - developers, wallet, mining etc
Bitcoin.com - The business said owned by Roger Ver (the 1st major bitcoin investor)

So in the crypto community .org comes 1st for projects like xyz.org (for the token, development, wallets, mining and so on)
which is followed by xyz.com for the business side - buy/sell the token, news, etc
.net is the least popular
