Best and Worst Domain Types For Revenue and CTR


I'm interested to know what type of domains you get the highest and lowest click price and C.T.R. % (Click Conversion), regardless of keyword settings.

E.g. I find domains related to 'Chat' 'Email' 'Music' get very high C.T.R. (50 % +) but the average click price is very low.

I also find domains related to 'Education' also get a high C.T.R. (35 % +) and the average click price is very good.

'Travel/Airline' 'Car/Auto' and 'Real Estate' related domains get a lower C.T.R. (20 % +/-) but the average click price is very good.

All of my 'Sex/Adult' related domains receive a minimum 50 % C.T.R. many as high as 85 % and the click price is reasonable but not exciting.

I find domains related to 'Cinemas' 'Movies' 'TV programs/Channels' and 'Children' produce the worst C.T.R. ( I have some 'Cinema' related domains with thousands of uniques a month that get a C.T.R. of under 3 % !!! ).

Also some LLL domains produce high traffic but it can be difficult to turn this into a good C.T.R. because visitors may be looking for vey different companies that use the LLL initials.

Finally, do you experience higher/lower C.T.R on .com's/.nets/.info's/.org's or on ccTld's, and do you find any country/continent/language ccTld's out perform others?

I have the same questions. Perhaps some kind of table would help with this info...a column of content areas like poker, cars, insurance, etc., and some fields where people could plug in avg click amounts, CTR's, and whatever. Otherwise, this is hard to reconcile...even then it sounds like a big, albeit very informational, project...especially if it contained different parking provider info...but, man, would it ever be helpful!

I take the matter of improving C.T.R. and/or Click Price very seriously. I have a large portfolio of traffic domains producing well over 500,000 uniques a month.

To simplify experimentation with settings at Name Drive, I have put domains relating to different subjects in appropriate folders so that I can test 'Catagory' - 'Keyword' - 'Header' - 'Template' options across a range of related domains one change at a time.

I find if I get the settings right for one 'Music' or 'Games' domain it makes sense to implement across the whole folder and see if it increases C.T.R./Click Price across the board.

Hi,

I have tried ALL services out there and it is pathetic what I was making with my domains. So I generated MoneyParking.com from SeguinHost.com for my own personal domains and I am very happy I did

Due to my success; I started selling the service cheaper than GoDaddy and customers get to keep 100% of their profits. We don't even know how much our customers make but we have gotten pretty nice comments from them.

Anyway, just an alternative to conventional domain parking.

What happens to the AdSense space if the domainer does not user AdSense? Do you put something else in its place?

You can use whatever you want, some people use yahoo and some don't display ads.

Search engines DO index the sites.

You can control content by adding a php include in all your sites. Then you can add or remove as you see fit.

I forgot to add... You can also sell links on your sites...

For example; We sell links for sponsors @ $39 per month, those links appear on all our sites... We have 14 sponsors... DO THE MATH :D

I haven't analyzed all my stats yet, but my highest CTR seems to be with adult names, but they pay the most paltry sums (1 - 3 cents per click). My other names (real estate related, debt relief related) have a lower clickthrough, but pay higher per click -- between $.70 - $4/click usually).

For instance, lowinterestloans.com would probably get a high CTR if the keyword used provided solid links to low interest loans. On the flip side, I would wager that a (albeit higher quality) name like loans.com has a lower CTR because it's too generic to figure out what kind of loan the majority of visitors are wanting.

I'd have to agree with you on most of your information Dominic. I find the same thing on almost all of my names. I recently switched some of my adult names to "Webcam XXX" and I'll see if I see any improvments.

Without a doubt! Because even with a lower CTR, it would have significantly more traffic.

It is hard to find good keywords because there are a lot of factors which are in discussion.The country of the visitor,the period when he click on your ads and normally the revenue.


I took a closer look this month.For travell related domains at sedo with a click from usa I earn average. .25-.30 Euros and about .15-.20 for gambling.This is just for sedo with an 30-35% CTR.
