Hello,

Have been holding this domain (and using for personal email, etc.) for...guessing 10 years or so now. Ben(.)org

Recently was approached by an admitted domain speculator and that got me curious what it's really worth.

Would appreciate any insights you may be able to share. I'm NOT in the domain business...just a dude that was geeky enough to get ahold of the domain a long time ago.

From this domainer's perspective, ben.org would be worth in the neighborhood of 4 to 8k to a reseller. I would be interested in it myself at the lower range.

Ha...well, like I said, I hadn't intended to sell it (have had it for many years and spurned numerous inquiries) because my name is Ben and it was just fun to have.

But perhaps this guy (who, BTW, seems swell in our interactions) caught me on a day of weakness and I made the mistake of telling my wife who was amazed that it had value! So, now the cat is out of the bag and I have some motivation (read: her nagging!) to finally let go if the amount is worth it. That's why I started doing some research and found this site (which seems to have pretty solid participation...reminds me of AVSForum.com!).

Thanks for the input so far and although my intent was not to solicit actual offers with my post, if you have an interest in acquiring it, please let me know.

Well, if you have hung onto it this long.... and really don't need the 5k, I say you hold onto it for another 10 years and let its value really increase. There are 695 million google results for "ben". That's outstanding.

If its worth this much to a reseller.. someone who will sell it to an end user, its probably worth double that to someone who's name is ben or who really loves this domain.

I'd personally hold onto it though. Good luck!

Ben is an extremely popular name. At public auction there is absolutely no way this would sell for under $10K.

I would say atleast 6k on it. You could always put it in the "offers wanted" section to see what domainers are offering for it.

i'd give it an easy 8k+ for the right reseller. if you find a company or a company were to approach you, i'd put this one by far higher.
All things considered though, i wouldn't let this one go unless you HAVE to have some cash on hand.

IMHO, this "vanity" name is only worth $3,000 if that.
try selling it in an auction, you'll know the value then.

Don't let the "appraisals" get you too excited.
