I had an interesting conversation with my accountant today about .org and the value of the domain for tax purposes

Told him the figure I thought it was worth and he scratched his head a bit and wondered if he could could justify it with HMRC

Anyway just curious what you would value this domain at?

Will share the (sensible) comments with him........

Please don't post the domain name in any comments - thanks

A little shy of a hundred pounds, and 99 shillings, perhaps?

Your name is a .org for a well-known country. In my mind that makes it premium. Low end $5000 USD, upper end $20000 USD. Some may disagree, but you need only look at comparable names on NameBio to see that this is a valuable name. Iceland.org sold for $12,000 last year for instance, and this year Greenland.org sold for $22k.

I have a few country geos in my portfolio, but none as awesome as yours. Congrats.

Low $XX,XXX to probably around $35K+ to the right buyer.

My only issue is I have no idea how much .ORG is used in Wales.

I sold a LLL.org a few weeks ago for $25K that is a popular US city acronym.

I think it’s going to be worth a lot more now you are developing it. If it gets high traffic and becomes the ‘go to place’ for people wanting info visiting Wales then you have a winner and it could sell for a huge amount.

The domain itself I don’t think is too expensive though unfortunately. It is obviously is worth something, but I don’t think its life changing.

.com whilst gold standard in America, it doesn’t matter too much to companies and people in the UK, UK companies and even FTSE 100 companies are happy to go with .co.uk.

.org is not even thought about too much, so if you were to try and find a buyer for the domain itself (nothing on) I think it would be hard to find a buyer.

I remember a great domain (UK region) being offered on NamePros around 2 years ago, Midlands dot com, it was on here for a few weeks too, previous owner wanted around $5k-$7k for it, I was tempted, i wish i did now because i don't think the domain is limited to the midlands region, but I never bought it because I thought it would be hard to sell for the reasons I spoke about above (UK being too familiar and happy to go with .co.uk) but if I knew how to develop, I would have snapped it up instantly and made it the go to site for the Midlands region like Yorkshire dot com is for Yorkshire, so you are doing the right thing with your domain name.

Get traffic and make the domain the go to place for information about Wales (news/people thinking about visiting) and you have a winner.

Best of luck with it.

With so many .co.uk org.uk .uk .wales extensions in play, I feel they dilute the valuation quite a bit.

I see the name being worth about $5000-$15,000.

Geo .org names have not been achieving record levels as of late.

I'd say its worth about low 5 figures, maybe 20-30k if you find the right buyer for it, if not then you should be able to sell it for about 10k without too much effort. Good luck!(y)
