Barack's campaign finally bought Obama.com

I know this news arrives at a really late clip, but I could have sworn that up until recently Obama.com was owned by a Japanese dude named Obama Satoru. Now the Obama campaign owns it. Wonder how much they paid off Mr. Satoru for it.

Update: DomainTools reveals Obama.com changed hands on Sep. 19th.

It would simply be a guess. If he wins, the value would be higher clearly.

It would just depend on what made the two sides happy for how much (if any) $$ change hands.

So the Obama campaign finally got it. Mr. Obama Satoru is eating a fat plate of sushi tonight. I can't wait to hear the details of the transaction. It could be that he sold it already and during the escrow process has fowarded the name. If it was indeed sold you can be sure it was for a great deal of money. I don't think mr. Satoru has to worry about Obama backing out of the deal.

If he did lease the name, wow, that is even better. I don't know of many recent leases on domain names so this could set some precedents.

Of course there is the possibility that there was no sale, but if that is the case I think fowarding the name will only hurt the original owner if it comes down to a udrp/wipo.

I did a google search for Robert Roche and this is what I came up with.

Also there a few other things linking him to obama. So I think the domain was bought.
