So.......
You guys should know - affiliate marketing is kind of like fishing. You put a referral banner on your site. Drop some breadcrumbs to attract more fish (taffic building), sit back and hope for the big one to bite.
I've been experimenting with different companies. Various success, but interesting nevertheless.
Take GoldKey for example. Rotating banner in top of Midano.com. Roughly one 2nd-tier sign-up per month. Occassional dollar here and there. Then BOOM - somebody opens a new account, parks a portfolio, and starts bringing me on average $14 per DAY in referrer earnings. Not going to send me into early retirement, but will put $5K/year (if it keeps going like that) into my pocket for doing absolutely nothing. Given that GoldKey pays 10% to the referrer, this person must be pulling $140/day just from domains parked at GoldKey. This has got to be either a huge portfolio, or some REALLY high quality/traffic names.
So here's my question: I feel that it would be fair to give something back. GoldKey shows all 2nd-tier with names and email addresses, so I can contact this person, thank them, and offer a free advertisement on Midano.com or elsewhere - a banner for their portfolio, a "sponsored by..." spot, and/or some click credit.
I'm just curious who this person is (it's not someone widely known in the domaining community). What would YOU do?
I WILL NOT DISCLOSE THE NAME.
Leo.
