I am not sure of the procedure at Tucows, but I think that they actually keep many of the expired names themselves and then sell them later at yummynames.com.
It does not mention Yummynames.com, but I am pretty sure that is what they reference when they mention their own domain portfolio.
Tucows acquires the domain name for its private domain portfolio, and upon the Grace Period ending, the domain is not deleted. Should the former domain name owner inquire about obtaining the domain name via their Provider, the domain can be returned to them in a process similar to “redeeming” a domain. Additional recovery and administrative fees may apply.
They used to have an expired deal with afternic, but I dont think that is active anymore.
To catch names from namesecure.com you need to use snapnames.
Well that is why you have to use the dropcatchers that have exclusive deals with each registrar. That way many names will never enter the last legs of the delete cycle and will keep their age.
If you are in doubt if your names will keep their age, write snapnames and ask them if that will be the case for your names.
I have been told that only domains that enter the delete phase loose there age. If you put in a backorder before the delete phase the domains won't loose there age.
My question was about the best placed to put the backorder in according to what the domains current registrar is.
Very nice list. I will rip the list if you don't mind and post it on my PR3 blog. What did you want in the anchor text of the link to your home page and post page.
Now that I know where to go to back order my next question is when should I backorder. Right away or toward the end. Some seem to think backordering right away will draw attention to the domain.
As I mentioned it is not my list. But I am sure you can put it up as long as you link to the original post.
I heard that some people dont like to backorder well in advance. But I myself always backorder when I decide to do so. But if you are good at keeping a schedule and dont mind the hassle of doing multiple sittings when backordering, I dont see an issue in last minute backorders.
