AVI Codec

My friend sent me one of his videos that he made but its an AVI video. Anyone know where I can get a good AVI codec so I can watch the video? Im running Windows Vista.

I downloaded and installed it but now I see the video but i cant hear any sound and I get an error from WMP.

Handy tool I use. If you ever have an AVI file that doesn't play properly, use this to determine exactly which codec was used, then you can just Google that codec, download, and install it.

I did everything you guys told me to do but I still can only see video and not hear audio and still encounter the error with WMP. When I follow the link to the M$ site I get this: Windows Media Player Error Message Help

do you have Samsung PC Studio 3 if so? then uninstall it.

VLC doesn't need any external codec or program to work.

You can play almost any video file in VLC even .mov .flv etc

download KMPlayer, all codecs integrated, it plays all the videos.
