Had a free day today to ‘think’ about what I’m doing with a recent domain purchase (I think many here know which one) and thought I would use the front part of my brain to try and find some good unregged ‘premium free’ quality .tv names while the back of my brain was making decisions.

I set myself the task of getting 25 - and amazingly found far more than I expected.

I cannot put a FULL list the ones that I ‘bagged’ here (for obvious reasons) or the ones I left behind, but will offer a selection of ten. Five of which I purchased - and five which I didn’t.

Three questions.....

First, which five from this set of ten would the members here have purchased?

Second, which one do you think, of all of these, did Estibot value highest?

Three, who will be first to scoop up the five that were left behind? (other than Snoop)

Anglo .tv
Gnomes .tv
Hoaxer .tv
Hooked .tv
Settee .tv
Spliff .tv
Tabbed .tv
Vermin .tv
Waggon .tv
Yucca .tv

Better put that 250 or more dolars together and get a good one on this hard times.

IMHO.

Totally understand where you're coming from and thanks for the thought.

However, one man's hard times is another man's opportunity. I'm bullish about .TV and TV.com and feel many on this forum are likewise (why else would we be here).

I also own a few that might be regarded, in your words, as 'a good one'. But that doesn't stop me wanting to buy non-premium generics or names I know would work as an internet televisual 'brand' (and that's what .TV names are all about). Time is on my side - as many who could have bought 'first wave extension name' generics in 1998 and 2002, but didn't, have found out to their cost.

I bought 25 non-premium names yesterday - only five of which are in the list of ten (I'd love to share the rest - but the 'guests' are here with all eyes watching). The other five were among the ones I discovered as being free but I decided for one reason or another not to buy.

The reason I put up a sample of 5 good / 5 bad (in my view) was that the names were what my cultural experience tells me would work for me. I just thought it would be interesting to hear the views of others.

If I think a name is not worth regging - then its not worth regging for ME. If someone else comes along and feels it is worth the fee - then good luck to them.

I didn't want Spliff .tv because (like adult stuff) I don't want to explain to my kids at some point that owning such names is part of who I am. Other people, such as those perhaps with MS, might have no moral qualms whatsoever about having that name.

Most of us are grown up here at .tv and know (or feel) what we are doing is right. Many thousands are being invested in names and then many more thousands in development.

There is at least one name among the ten that I am so very glad I bought and four others I am happy to have parted with my $90 or so to now own. I just wondered if others would think the same.

Yes, if you can, buy big quality names. But if you can discover little nuggets along the way - pick them up.

I'm pretty sure that nearly all of us on the TV forum are otherwise we wouldn't be here :)

In regards to the above names, honestly, I wouldn't have regged any as I don't see those names to have much value unless developed.

Unless I the victim of a very sad practical joke as I read this I've just received an enquiry about one of the five 'good' names from the list!

Congrats, let us know how you get on.

I just had another look over these domains and did find one that i liked:
Hooked.tv is nice IMHO for the finshing crowd.

Guy just got back and his offer is $100 for Hooked.

Bizarre coincidence

Don't want to accept though - I think it's too much effort for for too little reward.

Suggestions as to whether or not to proceed would be happily accepted.

Also, can anyone beat that - buy in the evening - get an offer less than 10 hours later.

Update

Of the ten - the five I actually registered were
anglo .tv - no explanation why

hooked .tv - fishing, fishing, fishing, or possibly drugs, love - no its fishing

settee .tv - come on - settee is the word used by so many people for this big ticket item - how difficult would it be to show settees, suites and sofa ads.

gnomes.tv - some parts of the world are 'besotted' by them and an internet Tv channel on which you could put your own gnomes would be simple to start.

yucca.tv - to a great many their yucca is their pet -

All had good estibot valuations and google footprints.

The ones I left behind were

spliff.tv
vermin.tv
hoaxer.tv
tabbed.tv
waggon.tv

Out of interest the person who enquired about the name was interested in Hooked.TV and he offered $100 straight away.I took the option of letting him begin the bidding at $60 at SEDO.

Perhaps I should do some more fishing!

Thanks GWKG for playing along (you would have made your money back straight away had it been real). Ronnie, you came round and picked the quick hit. - and Millers thanks for nearly playing along but not getting past your first choice!

Jimbo, guess I'm late for the real game, but in any event, my favorite three on your list of 10 are:
Anglo.tv (nice geopolitical name)
Hooked.tv (maybe the most interesting potential on the list)
Gnomes.tv (visually interesting)

Funny, I had gnomes in my checkout basket about 6 months ago - my daughter was watching one of the Brum episodes with the Gnomes for a few weeks straight. Definitely some potential with it, very visual, and you could also have gardening tip videos on the site. However, I wasn't completely convinced and had some other fish I wanted to fry.

Waggon - I've never used this spelling. I actually have Wagon.tv (gets some occasional traffic, and has about 70million more google results than waggon.)
