RE: Autonomous & Driverless car domains

Seems like there's a lot of news lately, as recently as the last few days, of advances in driverless & autonomous cars. There are multiple auto makers getting ready to launch some form of these cars, and of course, Google is working on their project car.

I have a handful of domains related to this news & technology, and I am wondering if anybody else has any? Also, any spike in traffic to your domains, or news of sales???

Is anyone seeing their amount of offers increase recently or selling their names anywhere these days?

Or are we all just holding & waiting?

I have mine listed but no BINs at this time

This Chinese-Backed Startup Will Start Selling Self-Driving Electric Cars By 2020

NIO, the Chinese-backed startup formerly known as NextEV, is bringing an autonomous electric car to the U.S. by 2020, the company's U.S CEO Padmasree Warrior announced Friday at an event during SXSW in Austin, Texas.

The startup will partner with Israeli-based Mobileye, which develops camera-based systems to help drivers avoid collisions, Nvidia, and NXP Semiconductors, the world's largest chip supplier to the automotive industry. Nvidia has developed an artificial intelligence computing platform that Audi and other automakers are using to deploy autonomous vehicles.

NIO's self-driving car will have Level 4 autonomy, a designation defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers as a vehicle that can handle all aspects of driving in most conditions, even if a human driver doesn't respond when asked to take over controls.

The car will first be introduced to the U.S. market followed by Europe, Warrior told Fortune in an interview following the event.

The car will be completely capable of driving itself in "constrained environments," Warrior says.

Reports: Intel buying Mobileye for up to $16B to expand in self-driving tech

First they partnered, and now comes the acquisition: multiple media outlets in Israel arereporting that the computing giant Intel is acquiring Mobileye, a leader in autonomous driving technology, for up to $16 billion (or $15-16 billion as one source tells us).

We have a strong signals too from our own sources on this story. One tells us that Mobileye’s R&D will remain in Israel: “Nothing will be moved to the states [and] Intel may open another R&D center in the country focused on automotive.” Mobileye’s CTO will head up Intel’s automotive division, he added.

TechCrunch’s sources tell us that Mobileye will be gathering staff for an announcement, so the news could be official soon. Another source tells us that the acquisition won’t be official until after the market closes later today.

If confirmed, this would be the biggest-ever acquisition of an Israeli tech company. Other notable exits that have also tapped into the country’s expertise in computer vision and machine learning have included Google buying mapping startup Waze for $1.1 billion and Apple buying 3D sensor specialist PrimeSense for reportedly around $300 million.

Intel's Mobileye Deal Marks Israel as Autonomous Tech Hub

Intel CEO Explains Why They're Buying Mobileye...

Israel’s emergence as a center for automotive technology got a vote of confidence on Monday when Intel Corp. said it would pay $15 billion for Mobileye NV, a Jerusalem-based maker of chips and software for driverless cars. It will be the largest takeover of an Israeli tech firm and follows a series of deals and partnerships inked in recent years by major tech and auto companies.

“The deal proves in a dramatic manner that our vision is coming true. Israel is becoming a global technology center, not only in cyber, but also in the automotive area,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a text message. Israel had already singled out the automotive technology sector as a possible economic boon, allotting it 250 million shekels ($68 million) for the next five years.

Bosch Announces AI Self-Driving Computer with NVIDIA

Bosch, the world's largest automotive supplier, today announced it is working with NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) to develop artificial intelligence self-driving systems for mass market cars.
Bosch CEO Dr. Volkmar Denner unveiled the collaboration during his keynote address at Bosch Connected World, in Berlin, at Bosch Group's annual Internet of Things conference.
NVIDIA and Bosch are developing an AI self-driving car computer built on NVIDIA's deep learning software and hardware that enables vehicles to be trained on the complexities of driving, operated autonomously and updated over the air with new features and capabilities.
"Self-driving cars is a challenge that can finally be solved with recent breakthroughs in deep learning and artificial intelligence," said Jen-Hsun Huang, founder and CEO, NVIDIA.
"Using DRIVE PX AI car computer, Bosch will build automotive-grade systems for the mass production of autonomous cars. Together we will realize a future where autonomous vehicles make mobility safe and accessible to all."

First auction seems to be going decently so I decided to test out another domain with different terminology...

So far, the first auction, SelfDrivingShuttles has received decent activity and is up to $15 within 48 hours

The second one, DriverlessAutoSharing has been up just about 24 hours now and no bids yet

Perhaps this shows the terminology preference between us domainers?

NVIDIA Working with Truckmaker PACCAR on Self-Driving Technology

NVIDIA announced today that it’s working with PACCAR, a leading global truck manufacturer, on developing solutions for autonomous vehicles.

The collaboration was shared by NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang during his keynote at the Bosch Connected World conference in Berlin. Separately, he provided details of NVIDIA’s partnership with Bosch, the world’s largest automotive supplier, on self-driving car technology.

“This is probably the largest single mass of a product that we’ve helped make,” said Huang, addressing a crowd of more than 2,000 executives, developers and others attending the event.

PACCAR CEO Ron Armstrong, said separately, “PACCAR is exploring automated driving systems and we are excited about what our collaboration on artificial intelligence with NVIDIA has delivered so far.”

This is going to be a massive, massive niche going forward. With news of Mobileye being acquired for over $14 billion by Intel to gain entry into the market, plus huge companies planning a self-driving future, I'm holding for the years ahead. Look at some of the companies now jockeying for leadership or a piece of this space:

Google/Waymo and Tesla
Intel and Nvidia
Uber and Lyft
Apple and Microsoft
Ford and GM
Daimler and BMW
Toyota and Volvo
Honda and Hyundai
Bosch & Delphi
Baidu, LeEco, Didi Chuxing and Tata
Plus scores of start-ups, delivery companies, service providers and add-on sellers.

Incredible.

FullySelf-Driving / FullySelf-DrivingCar(s)

Highlights: World’s first fully self-driving ride

Waymo—formerly the Google self-driving car project—stands for a new way forward in mobility. In 2015, we invited Steve Mahan, former CEO of the Santa Clara Valley Blind Center, for a special ride. Steve had ridden in our cars in the past—first accompanied by a test driver in 2012 and then on a closed course in 2014. This time was different. Steve experienced the world’s first fully self-driving ride on public roads, navigating through everyday traffic with no steering wheel, no pedals, and no test driver.

We've been working on self-driving vehicles since 2009, and we are now an independent self-driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things move around. Learn more about Waymo:

Cognitive Cars: The control centre for individualized AI

What is a Cognitive Car?

Cog·ni·tive is defined as relating to, being, or involving conscious intellectual activity (as thinking, reasoning, or remembering) and car is a well, a car. When people speak of technology being cognitive they are implying that things will happen more seamlessly for the user. Artificial Intelligence is key in the conversation in making our surroundings more intelligent and useful.

Cognitive vehicles can be viewed as the control centre for individualistic AI

In a world where our cars are cognitive, they would respond to certain situations and could even have enough knowledge about their environment to be able to act autonomously. Pair this with the right services and the car has the potential to become the lynchpin of truly mobile eco-system.

The cognitive vehicle would offer self-determined access to an individualised artificial intelligence which supports human beings, entertains them and could even challenge them intellectually
