6 months with no sales on Atom. Should I stick with it or switch back to afternic?

Atom has many downfalls in my view including the amount of garbage domains they have on the platform, what their algorithm returns when a buyer search for words or domains and the fact that with premium domains they are strict in what they allow the domain owner to do.

Even removing domains from the platform following their 30 days rule can can make your account lose the status of "in good standing". At times they seem to think they own the domains people list on their marketplace...

Afternic is and has been very good for many domainers and domains and bad for others; the same I think can be said for Atom. The type of domains one owns is what determines which platform may be more suitable and which platform may deliver more sales or opportunities.

For myself I do both depending on the type of name. Brandables with less traffic usually end up at Atom.com. Geos , 2 & 3 word generics , and other keyword domains tend to be at Afternic.com. No hard and fast rules though. Whatever seems a better fit for those sites. Still send some to Sedo as well, especially domains which may have more appeal to European and other overseas markets. Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Hi @cekintau,
Feel free to DM us if you have any questions about optimizing your listings on Afternic. Let's work on getting you that next sale!

Afternic--- offers a robust support system with expert sales teams to assist in negotiations, which can be a significant advantage for sellers looking for guidance ..
Allows for broader listing options but may impose restrictions based on its commission structure.

Atom--- focuses on maximizing profits with tools and expertise, but may not have the same level of established support as Afternic../ Allows for broader listing options, but may impose restrictions based on its commission structure/Requires sellers to adhere to certain exclusivity rules, which can limit how domains are marketed on other platforms...

List your names everywhere with a 'make offer' option.

To keep control of your leads, use landers that give you all the data (name, phone, email)...these leads are GOLD and any marketplace that is worth using should eventually give you those names.

For example, I've got leads at one of the places you mention that either have not received contact from the marketplace or only one attempt has been made to reach the buyer. I do not mind giving them exclusivity for a period of time (90 days max) but if their 'brokers' can not close a sale in that period, the lead should be given to the domain owner.

I tend to favor NamePros 0% and Atom White Label standard listings 7.5% as they both give me buyer information which is valuable in negotiations. It's good to know if you have a whale on your line or a minnow before shooting your price back. I still list all my domains at Atom, Afternic, Sedo etc... but I'll always prefer pointing them somewhere where buyer information isn't anonymous. Negotiations will always be more in your favor when you know who you're talking to and can possibly figure out their intended usage of the domain before shooting a price back. Also good to get buyer information as you'll be able to move quicker response wise than a company broker that has hundreds of offers to manage from various domainers domains.

Don't wanna build your own database of end user buyers or improve your negotiation skills over time=Afternic, Sedo

Wanna build your own database of end user buyers and improve your negotiation skills over time=NamePros, Atom White Label standard listings, Efty, Bodis, etc... whoever gives ya the buyer information name, email, phone, etc... will work.

Atom no longer puts a shine light on your domain name. After a good year, I am working on getting all the domain names removed that I have listed there.

There is a new auction on their so-called "premiums," selling for a couple of bucks every week or two now.

I no longer see a benefit of listing my domains amongst constant discounts and credits. I don't see the point of listing premiums and selling them off for a couple bucks, This just catches up pretty quickly, so why on earth would a buyer that becomes aware of this go for your domain?

The platform now seems to make the most from domain holders than from actual sales.

Kinda started to feel like some "Game" browsing their site.

Afternic. It's all about the partner network. I have plenty of grips with Afternic, and the Atom site is absolutely more sophisticated. But I sell like crazy on Afternic, every 2-3 days on average. And sales are all that count.

If you want to broker your own domains, then I highly recommend standard listings at Atom.

I had tons of offers on Afternic, but the brokers would just sit on them resulting in zero sales, so I switched to Atom and quickly turned some of them (and much more) into sales.

I agree.
I have already activated the procedure for having all my premium domains removed.

Honestly, great people, but just as location means the world in offline, it does online too, so many bells and whistles on Atom and having your names listed next to 70% off, buyers getting emails for auctions, nothing just feels as premium anymore.

The best possible thing I could sum up what Atom has become is Etsy.com

You now need to figure out how to stand out even if you already have high-quality names, amongst the 100k+ that's already on there.

Afternic just dominates (while it definitely could be better, but so fa,r anyone I asked has a much higher sales rate, with some even zero, with Atom compared to Afternic)

But I can't complain, you can always set up your own landers on your own platform.

But yeah, that's summing up my opinion.

My experience with SquadHelp (now known as Atom) was a like riding a rollercoaster, at the beginning sales were flowing (2020-2021) with high STR then suddenly I had no sales for like 8 months although I was sitting on 600 premium domains.. the competition became insane and your names could hardly been seen.. the funny thing is that during that period my premium Squadhelp names were still selling at Afternic but I had to pay 10% to Squadhelp to meet their exclusivity rules.. so I was actually losing money for listing with them

After that I took the descision to remove all my domains from Squadhelp and used Afternic landers.

I tried their WLM (white label market) it was very nice and elegant feature but honestly it didn't work well for me because I wasn't pointing my domains to my WLM I was afraid that buyers will be hesitated to buy from an unkown market (WLM shows your custom brand logo not Squadhelp) I trusted GD landers more.

I don't know what changes happened after they rebranded to Atom. I am considering trying their landers with standard listing but I am hesitated to do that because I believe they show domaims from other sellers on your landing page? which will hurt your sales.

I think this feature can be turned off.

As for sales, marketplace and auctions handling the level is imo quite low. And I am saying this in spite of having a 10x the average approval rate and 20-30% higher than average shortlists to view.
