Do you mean just transferring away?

The "transfer + free renewal" deal is common amongst many of the well-known Registrars.

I wouldn't suggest that you transfer your domain to a registrar that is limited to SedoMLS list.

You may as well list them yourself at the various platforms, and save on the high commission that Sedo will charge you for that service should you make a sale.

Also, you are not choosing a registrar based on good service but rather, you are just choosing a registrar so that Sedo can charge you more commission on a sale?

yeah the only one i can find that is free is domainmonster. Godaddy is 7.99 1 year ext. I guess I'll just transfer it to Godaddy. I just dont want to be limited with what and were I can go. Aside from Godaddys annoying upsell and monster interface they prob have one of the most extensive control panels.

DomainMonster will charge renewal fee!

SedoMLS' charges 30% commission. This will reflect your sale price, pushing it unnecessarily high. I don't recommend it. Simply list it at Sedo, if you set a BIN price, it'll be listed on GoDaddy too. Plus, list it at Afternic and DomainNameSales and you'll have pretty much all the big platforms covered.

:talk:

yeah, but covered with what?

the day will come when names can only be listed on these sites, after a "quality check".

it will be similar to applying for an account with a 'select' ppc service

It's 20% right? That all sounds perdy good. Where do you park it at?

yeah the only one i can find that is free is domainmonster. .

Internal transfer only.

Free just about everywhere these days outside of Hosting companies (1&1, Netfirms ) and companies that are stupid and overpriced (Register.com, etc.)

Try Dynadot.

Domain monster is the only one I or google can find that is free to transfer a domain from a registrar INTO domainmonster. Everyone else charges around 9 bucks but most also give a one year extension for it.

If it's true that Domain Monster don't charge anything for a transfer, but don't add a renewal charge plus one year to the domain (I'm too tired to check for myself.. perhaps you could provide a link?), then you might ask yourself "why do they do that but nobody else does?"

They don't but they do a minor bait and switch to make it seem that way (just like everyone else - GoDaddy also says free transfer)

I went with godaddy. Once I saw I can organize domains into folders. FYI, godaddy says plainly that they charge 7.99 for transfers. Don't know what you saw.

It's the same as saying, "you get the 1 year ext free with a free transfer"
or "7.99 transfer with a free 1 year ext" same thing.

Internals are free [push acct to acct]

Most registrar in fact have folders. Personally, I think Godaddy's Control Panel is the best out there. But their Checkout is the worst out there. It's a minefield.
