Alright I know it isnt on us yet, but it is right around the corner.....

I bought a group of .ASIA domains when registration was open. In a few months they are due for renewal. I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on the future of this domain....

now obviously premium keywords are worth holding onto... but what about non-premium names... For instance, (now I am not looking for a evaluation or appraisal, just starting a thread) I have the domain SALAH.ASIA and SALAT.ASIA

Both are a very important Muslim prayer/exercise, and with the major religion in Asia being Muslim I could see this domain being useful..oneday..

My dilemma is what domains are worth keeping and which names aren't. I mean salah has 48 million google results but the name only gets 10 uniques a month... Great name but without traffic and in an unknown extension this domain may be headed out...

Please share your thoughts concerning what your plans are for renewing your asias or not...

Good question - at least there seem to be some deals now on renewals - or are they just for new rego's?

I might let let a few go - there were about 20 or so I got in a particular niche that in hindsight was perhaps not that good.

Will renew the rest though over 100.

BTW sale about to complete for a nice generic .asia for A$3,850. Will let you know when complete

Ahhh...Do tell...:)

I'll be hanging on to my premiums, of course...probably develop them - at least to mini site stage.

As for the rest (100+)...I may go through them, and move some out...But, I reckon I'll keep the majority. This extension has some time to go before it takes hold, I'd think...

I see some opportunities in the present economic circumstances, too, since Asia, in general, will be much stronger economically than the rest of the world, over the next few years - so, there may be end users that see advantage in promoting themselves into Asia, using this extension.

So, for me, PPC income isn't how I'm evaluating whether, or not, I hold these names....Its end user opportunities, or development potential.

Dot asia is nice extension if u can get right end user (they willing to pay. if u can get the right end user).....
I'm not a domainer, i don't understand dot com rules, word tracker, google search term and bla, i start with dot my, spend few k on it and none of it sold or anything ....
But dot asia bring me to another level that make me think, domain is the future ....
for me yes, i will renew all my dot asia (currently 1200++ dot asia and increasing daily), average sold 9 dot asia monthly for **** perdomain and none of them sold online .....

simple rule of dot asia, sell to the right person, they rich, they willing but just don't know WHAT/WHERE to buy, service and story telling is far more important then any SEO, type in and bla for them ....

What are you talking about they are comming up for renewal soon? I thought it wont be until march 2009 for the undisputed ones. For the auctions one they are like sometime in June 2009.

Care to share the details? Send them onto DNJournal - it's important that all .asia sales are made public where possible to help the extension.

What .Asia renewal? My Landrush domains have a mandatory 2 year registration. They will start to expire in June 2010. I thought this was true for all .Asia even the first month of the Go Live registrations? At the very least the Go Live domains should be valid thru June 2009.

Right on. It will be some time before renewals are here!

Don't worry, guys....Renewals aren't around the corner....

...Most regs were for two years - so, no renewal before March-June 2010, or so...
