Just wondering, as a - likely - computer geek/nerd/techie, business freak do you get made fun of?

I know I do. Today I got kicked out of German class -_-

I tell people I make $80/hr programming and they want proof. Well how do I prove that??

Anyway, you can see what kind of trouble comes with the territory of being a programmer.

How's your social life?

Well i am apparently 'emo' or 'scene kid' and people pretty much assosiate emo with being geeky, having glasses etc.

So i take it all in my stride really!

I tell my mates or anyone anything about what i do "yeah i make websites!" i wouldn't think programming was geeky at all. All these "non geeks" playing games and using programs should think to themselves about who makes the games/programs they use and think twice before calling people names really.

Laim, LoL Hmm I Know Wat You Mean.

I was apparently "emo" last year idk where they got that from. LoL Most the poeople i know don't pick pn me. They hate the fact that they have to come to me for the website help ect.

but you could say i am skater/punk/prep/dependin the day emo

Also, to give you some info, I live in the city of the largest concentration of drunkies in the United States :)

Everybody at my school are those people addicted to myspace, going to the mall, hanging out with friends, and beating up on nerds...

I don't have any issues at all to be honest.
The only reason I ever get any crude remarks is because of what i wear and the music I listen to.
I have an excellent social life and value all my friends.
Noone cares if I am good with computers, some even come up to me and ask for help with things.
I think the main problem is "gloating", which is when you start going into the danger zone.
"I tell people I make $80/hr programming and they want proof." - an example of this.
Don't do it and things will improve no end.

I have no problems at all. Im usally the popular one in school but I don't make fun of people that are different. It's just not right. Alot of my friends want to join me in the biz. I make my money on image sites. But yes this is not a problem. Also anther thing is it acually attracts more girls to me because I really don't have to stay on the internet or have to work at a job for someone. Which means more time to have fun. ;)

Well I was glad in tell people this.

Domaining and websiting RULES!!!!!

Dang then what do I do wrong... I mean I don't go around bragging about my income but it came up in conversation and I'm not one to lie.

The main thing they harrass me for though is for being Mormon. I guess we Mormons should be used to this kind of thing but I - as an individual - am not. I left class and they gave me a "we miss you" note that said "**** you" inside of it - and "come back cause no we have nobody to make fun of"....

Any advice on this?

Ahh that reminds me. We used to have a friend at school who was mormon. We called him "Stormin Mormon" but he embraced it so it's not like we were making fun of him. That's his AIM screen name now too...

Just be proud of what you are.
And dont react to them.
They'll eventually get bored....
