Common mistakes from Newbies - Learn the Wrong Things:
1. Language - Many are not English Speaking.
- Putting 2 Words together which make No Sense: HardDick is OK but LiquidDick or 5FeetDick do not make sense
2. The number of Extensions are taken: the more extensions are taken the more chances you will have a Trademark problems. Why 100 companies want to have the same name in different extensions?
3. Appraisal - The price of a name is decided when both buyer/seller agreed. For the same name: Namepros members will pay $3, individual $30, small company $300, medium company $3,000, big company $3,000,000
4. Dictionary - You must understand what is a dictionary - Refer to the real definition. Otherwise every name is a dictionary Word.
5. Cheap Registrars - You get what you pay for - Looking for a popular one with good customer services and well known company - Otherwise you may save 50 cent and lose a sale because the buyer don't like the company or the registrar does not have any connection with the market.
6. If you don't have money and try to register a name 99% it will be a crap name and cannot be sold. There is a reason why the name is available.
7. Do not learn complicated things: Extensions taken, BrandPa/Brandma Approved, Exact Search, DR, DA, Backlinks, etc.. The ONLY Question that you need to ask yourself is what type of website can be created from the name and is the name Trade Mark?
8. List the name for sale everywhere you can and don't be picky about commission. You rather make a sale than hold it. Cash flow is important.
9. Don't hate or be picky about a good registrar because people don't like the price. Pay 50 cent or $1 more and you get good market, good customer service rather than having problem when you sold the name (can't transfer, don't receive the money, etc...)
That is for now. Good luck!
If you have more questions then ask your wife. She should know everything!!!
