Are things rebounding?

Like most, I've found myself in quite the Domaining slump this past year (and even more so this past few months) but things start to feel like they are turning. More offers, Better offers, and even some Sales. Hows everyone else feeling out there?

The economic news coming out is now mixed - positive and negative stuff. But countries are starting to see growth again, which would suggest that we're past the worst of it.

So yes, I think that a domaining recovery is probably happening right now, too :)

Things are looking up... There is money in the economy, and people are starting to realize what a great LONG TERM investment quality domains represent...

The domain market is certainly off the bottom. I have had many more inquiries recently, and domains at auction are going for much more than several months ago.

I've had several sales in the past two weeks and am also seeing more offers. Looks like things are turning a little.

Some good news from you all, thank you!

lets hope it spreads. Its good to see the Sedo sales from what seems to be end users. I myself have no offers coming in and Im trying to sell to end users with little success. maybe in the next few months that may change as I picked up some good adult domains but time will tell!

please if you have some positive stories to share please do so to lift our spirits up about what may be on the horizon!

The global economy overall: Its a bull trap. Go read some newspapers following the US stock market crash of 29... "We believe the worst is over... The economy is fundamentally sound... Signs point to progress" It's eerie. People are so desperate for any good news that whenever a small, green chute pops up from the ashes, everyone disparately tries to convince themselves that it's really a fertile garden.

Domain names: There's still a ton of natural growth to be had. It's hard to assess situations like this, when the general economy is in the crapper, but an isolated fragment of it has a lot of natural value to realize. In the short-short-short term, I've seen an increase in activity in terms of conversions and inquiries, but nothing to make me say "hey, the worst is over!"

The crisis has been good to me. But it's just me.

More activity, but I see prices falling back to earth and think that may be more of a permanent correction. I've also been told by a few contacts that larger companies are opting for different domains when the ones they were interested in are asking for too much. They still need to pump millions of dollars into branding them - so unless it's that golden type-in, most aren't giving guys with high figure 5 and 6 figure quotes the time of day anymore.

I think it's a mix of the economy and the result of some domainers who got too greedy. Seems that while things are picking up - the domaining landscape is changed for good.

I think my last sale of $xxx was back around April. I'm hoping this economy picks itself up but it's too early to speculate... give it time.

It's never to early to speculate. That's all the fun. :talk:

Ive been having a Good month so far. Lots of offers, even some in the $x,xxx. Ive got two in escrow that look like they should go through. It really had been a rough year, but as of this week I finally feel almost like I did back in mid 2007 when things were flying high.

I think things are getting better - I have brokered over 100k in sales last month, this month a little slower but lots of great names comming through for sale at more realistic prices.

Now is the time that we are going to see people take a little risk, invest in some domains and trust they shall reap the rewards in the future.

Sedo, BuyDomains etc all pulling in great sales last month also so I think we are getting out of the slump.

Good Luck to all and if anyone needs anything drop me a line.

Same. Got 3 separate offers on Sedo over the past 2 business days alone, plus two of my clients each just received out-of-the-blue offers. One is on the verge of closing for $1K (he paid $12 for the domain a few months ago).

I think in general everything is timing..In 2008 I had two months, January and October which I sold about $7000 each month with a profit of over $5000 each month through quick flips and one was even a hand regged that was less than 3 months old I sold for $3400... I have had a few good sales earlier this year but haven't had an offer in almost two months... next month could bring 10 offers and 5 sales who knows... It really comes down to the names you have and when people want them... I have had names that were in the redemption period I had end user inquiries on with offers in the hundreds, the names themselves were not good, it just happen to be the time in history when someone wanted that exact name... Don't get discouraged when you don't get offers for a while, also don't let a few good sales trick you into thinking everything is turning around....

I personally think this economy is going to be stagnant for quite some time, but that doesn't mean that their isnt money to be made..

What slump?

I sold more domains for more money in the first six months of this year than in the whole of last year.

They were all $xxx with a couple $xxxx, all to end users.

Much of this is down to being more choosey in the dot com names I acquire and putting more effort into finding potential end users.

If the market improves things can only get better!

First you question if there is a slump and then you admit that you've only sold better so far this year because you are being more "choosey" with the domains you acquire for sale.
