Hi

Curious what you think on this if your going grab a 2 letter, 3 letter, or 4 letter .tv name.

I am sure enom has a lot of these in there list.

so if your paying 500 a year on yearly fees the company could go after you right? Now if its a common word say it.tv and has a stock symbol of it which does exists you should ok.

But if your grabbing goog.tv or nflx.tv which are the symbols of google and netflix.

I am not sure on stock symbols and trademarks but knowing how corporations can use there lawyer letter powers I would be worried some if your grabbing 2 letter, 3 letter, 4 letters in .tv. Again you should be fine if its a common word.

My words of advice again I am not a legal expert but I would look into this before you consider dropping big money on a name.

Just something to puzzle your brain as it is 3am lol.

Maybe I am wrong on this issue and trademark factor but corp can play hard ball. Or you can simply say the hell of them and I am fine due to it being a word.

Well first off I would say they hold little value, so I would not reg it for that reason. Symbols are issued by the exchanges so if you were trying to put stock info on the site you could possibly have them say you cannot. But these domains IMO are worthless unless you tried to monetize in a way to confuse the web user. Yhoo.tv what are you going to do with the domain ? Using info on Yahoo a problem, and if not there are many domains better for development IMO.

I don't have.

But what happens if you grab a 2 letter .tv name and its a common word but yet its a stock symbol? That's what I am puzzled on I guess.

Another mis keyword.

2 letter .tv domain but its not a common word but yet its a stock symbol

Rj I wish you could allow namepros.mobi edit your first post if you read this.

Firstly, there are many thousands of exchanges around the world trading various "things" such as shares; options; commodities; etc etc (almost forgot currencies - thanks Eq).

Each of these often have an acronym - two; three; four letters etc. These acryonms can also be used to describe many other situations apart from whats tradeable on exchanges. See the following link:

I just dont see it as an issue at all unless you are directly "passing off"

some might say do a 'mini developed site' and do your own trademark ? might be worth the protection if you have a LL.tv ?

Exactly.

And what happens when the stock symbol that you regged, the company goes & has their stock symbol changed into another stock symbol?

if a 2 letter name it would still retain value and be an acronym for something else
