Dear all..

I'd like to register some dot ws and dot tel domain names..

But, are they worth enough to resell? How about the prospect?

Thanks

Unless you have super premium keywords .WS is not worth it, and .TEL is too new to judge, but more than likely only super premiums will have any value.

.ws is kinda iffy. Many try to stay away from it from a resell standpoint. However, if you can find a nice keyword, it is definitely worth developing (if you want to take that route).

On the .tel side, the domain is new and there haven't been many sales to put a resell price on it yet. There have been some supposed sales; however, the buyers did not come through with payment.

All in all it's a gamble either way.

I think if you find a good .ws you may be able to resell it, but not for a lot. The reg fee is a little higher, but not as high as .cc. This hurt them even more than the fact that they are ccTLDs. But I like both and would pay $10-$30 for a domain I am interested in.

It is too soon to tell about the .tel and I have not seen any good .ws sales. If you find a good domain in the .tel take it but I do not see a huge market for these names.

If you are new to domaining you need to start by reading everything you can before buying anything. Once you have somewhat gained a little knowledge then you should be sticking with the more common tld's for at least a year before venturing into the more exotic cctld's etc.

I use to think exotic tld's had value, but they just don't to domainers, unless you have casino.tld or a super premium keyword that sells no matter what the extension is. Even good one word premium keywords don't sell well in exotic tld's unless you can find an end user. I tried it, with different exotic tld's I had. The most I made was $100 for a super premium .cc I sold, and that was just a lucky offer from posting on a relevant forum, and a person messaged me interested in it, and offered that amount.

Most people are only aware of com/net/org and their own country tld. Focus on those, or you'll most likely lose money.

.TEL has no value at all. I don't care what people say or how much they promote it. There's really no use for buying one. You can't do anything with it, besides list contact information. I personally rather buy a .ws or a .cc instead, at least those have development potential.

I disagree a little, .ws it's a good extension and even though it stands for West Somoa or something like that sales have been rising in the past couple of years, is still low but it's catching up.

If you find a premium single word, get it and develop or sell, but don't expect $xx,xxx for a premium .ws just yet!

Here are some recent sales:

roulette.ws - $1,000 - 2008-09-20 - sedo.com
renthouses.ws - $1,300 - 2008-06-20 - afternic.com
torrents.ws - $1,169 - 2008-04-29 - sedo.com
sms.ws - $2,000 - 2007-12-08 - sedo.com
ricette.ws - $2,235 - 2007-04-25 - TDNAM
sexshop.ws - $1,330 - 2007-01-17 - Sedo
xcite.ws - $3,605 - 2006-11-25 - TDNAM
blogs.ws - $1,600 - 2006-05-30 - Sedo
voip.ws - $2,000 - 2006-03-21 - Sedo

I know one thing - [dot] ws's are bad to resell.. Very lucky to trade them..

I would not register .tel. The good tel names are already taken and not every name makes sense in combination with this extension.

I noticed many .tel's being registered don't fit the extension, hence see a lot of drops in a year. For a new domainer, definitely stay away from .tel. .tel premiums may fair well (hype...), but in the long term, I don't see them doing well.

There are some good names left in .ws, but you may have to hold onto them for awhile to see a nice return (if you're willing to sit on renewal fees).

.ws needs to be premium. That term is used very loosely by many domainers. I'm talking legit premium. The sale list posted above is a good example.

I'm torn on even calling .tel a domain name considering it's just a rinky dink social site that was given it's own TLD (why??!!). Don't fall for the .tel hype by a small handful of very vocal posters. They appear to have low online business IQ's based on the stuff being said in the .tel discussion thread, which is a sad, sad read.

Datacube isn't exactly fully correct. vlogs.ws is up for sale @ sedo. Not an xx,xxx (5 figure) pricetag... but deffinetly qualifies for a respectable xxx (3 figure) one instead.

This thread is like 2 months old, what you posted here just to spam your name... very sad :td:
