Is finding a pronounceable 4L.com name for under $150 the way to go?

For under 150 it's gonna have a Q J or W in it. Perhaps even all 3

Yes. Now try finding one.

Yes, just as finding gold nuggets on your field.

The key to success is finding a domain that you can sell for (much) more than what you bought it for. Doesn't matter if it's 4L and if it's pronounceable. Personally I try to buy domains for ~1% of their perceived value (in my view). This way my portfolio is self-sustaining as long as I manage to keep the STR above 1%. It's a very crude number for the purpose of illustration, If you want to go a bit deeper, read this.

Yes. Iโ€™m currently trying this strategy but canโ€™t get my time machine working.

Have you tried 4L.net domains? Or are they way less valuable and demanded?

Yes, it's a good strategy. But I don't think you'll find any pronounceable 4L.com for $150.

There's no demand for 4L.net.

Though I own and have sold many, in general random LLLL.com are underperformers for me.

Sure, if you can get some high quality ones it can be worth it. They are just unlikely to be cheap.

You should already know four letter .nets have no value. If you didn't then your whole understanding of domain values is stuck on the starting-grid. You need to get up to speed fast and before you buy anything.

What type of domains are high in demand (not as much as 4L.com)?

Best way to stop dreaming about making it in domains is to look at namebio at recent sales. You will see that it is very random. Domaining should be considered gambling, it is more of a game of chance than poker is. Of all investments someone can make, domaining is side by side of giving your money to a random scammer, the scammer might return the money to you with the same chance of a domain investment returning the money to you.

You invest in domains if you enjoy the research, the game of it. Expect never to make any money from it. Do it only if you enjoy the process.

The game is downloading daily lists or using expireddomains. You look for what is dropping, going to auction. You check out what the activity is on it, the history of the name, any trademarks. You review names being sold by domainers, names on sites like ebay. You check the news, see any new trends, maybe something good is available for a hang reg or the owner has it listed for cheap. You spend some time on namepros, you read the good stuff, the drama, you try to help.

When a sale happens its a nice bonus, helps you renew names you know one day you or who ever inherits what you have will drop anyway. It's like lotto, money and a dream and yeah, it can get addictive too.

I hope you find success.

It's a lot better than lotto, domains are business tools and good domains will always be on demand by entrepreneurs who know what they are doing. The thing is to not solely rely on domains, there are some frustrating gaps between sales IF you ever reach that stage where you actually sell domains for decent money.

I believe the answer is yes.

2 tips:

1) Market bottom each year is Dec-Feb
2) Market high is Aug-Oct

You can realistically buy for $80-$90 and sell for $160-$180 if you understand this yearly trend and why it happens

How many are you buying and selling in that range each cycle?

Thatโ€™s interesting, why does this trend happen?
