Hello community. I am new to the NP community and would appreciate your thoughts / appraisal on the following. I have sold several domains in the past and have a portfolio close to 100 .com names. The 3 that I have received several direct offers on recently are:

1) evice.com = advice online, short 5-letter .com, can be used for search, answer-sites, etc. I am planning on using this domain to start an online answer community, however would be willing to sell it for the right offer. I have already received offers near 10K. (never used)

2) msofficecloud.com = straight-forward, and since you should be expecting MS to launch the cloud anytime now, this is going to be a great pick-up for big corps or those who want to make a profit off it. Spelled correctly and a .com. (never used)

3) GoogApp.com = again, very straight-forward and quite easily identifiable. You can do wonders and make tons of money with this name. I can see the pros on this site turning some real $$ out of this. (never used)

Appreciate your comments and thoughts. Thx.

Hey Boylogik,

1. Nice name, depending on what you paid for it I would take a reasonable offer. If you received a $10K offer, counter a little higher and sell. Of course, if you have strong development plans, by all means, hold onto it - great name!

2. I would drop this like it's hot. This is a law-suit waiting to happen. From what I have read, Microsoft doesn't generally try to buy domains like that as they would most likely just use msoffice.com/cloud or cloud.msoffice.com.

3. That is an okay name...not sure if this is a TM problem, but I doubt it. If you have an offer on this one I would take it.

Look forward to hearing reports from my fellow NP'ers!

Good luck!

Thanks for the repsonse CMASON. Regarding you comments:
1) thanks. I'll see if I get a decent offer. If not, I will develop that site. I'm a tech entrepreneur so it may make sense to keep it for my own needs.
2) I considered the potential TM issues, but the words 'office' and 'cloud' are not TM. And as most of the big players are going to the cloud, I think it would be difficult to claim it as TM. And as you eluded to, I am guessing MS will use their own domain for their cloud, or the expected office.com hta thas been purchased recently by a big player. I also run a cloud computing blog as well that discusses clouds. :)
3) I can't imagine that being TM, but I will look into it and do my research before using it for anything.
Thx again for the response.

I would take the money and consider myself lucky.I would have jumped at anything over $100. . . Five L.coms are barley over $100 . .the other two are reg fee. None of these are premium names.

$10,000? hmmmmmm. Anyone with common sense would have sold it instantly. Tell them $1,000,000 and see what happens.

Whether the word office or cloud are trademarked or not, doesn't matter - when anyone sees the domain name msofficecloud.com, they are going to infer that it is related to Microsoft office, and that is what is going to get you in trouble.

I would agree with cmason's advice on dropping it.

I would say TM issue...

msoffice refers to Microsoft Office..... which is a property of Microsoft Corporation.

Adding another word to a TM is still a TM..

You may have heard domains like microsoftvistapromotions.net, microsoftvietnam.net, microsoftzone.com.......... have been sued and taken by Microsoft...

I would say delete it.... :td:
