Ok, I may as well see what others think about this one...

Malibu.tv

There are plenty of uses for this name, including Malibu, CA and many, many other things.

What do you think?

great reg the GEO .TV'ers will be green with envy at that one.. well done you .. is it a premium name?? or one you have swept up off the floor.

Just curious as there are still some standard reg fee ... great names available...

I see lots of money coming your way. I used to live in Santa Monica for 4 years and Malibu is 20 minutes up the coast. Maybe Im wierd but I see this one going mid $XXXX someday. Depends on a few factors but it looks real good to me. Many people on this board are probably tallying their cash flow and getting ready to make an offer, its quite a frenzy over american geos here.

Oh and malibumobile... you never replied to any PMs.

Hmmm how does one set the price, good question. Its different for everyone. It depends on the name, it depends on your financial situation. Some folks are content to sit on their names until the end of time if necessary. For me I like a decent turnover rate to avoid renewing 400 names. This especially comes into play with premiums. If you hold forever you have to account for total cost, then the pressure to break even becomes very very heavy. IMO I like to make a good profit while leaving room for the reseller to make a profit. As long as I make a profit Im happy. I still have many other great names to sell. So I am more willing to make deals than most of the die hards here. As a result I set the prices a little low to inspire swift action. For a name like Malibu.tv I think you could score big either way, immediately after purchase for 3x investment, or you could easily hold on to it for a year or two and resell to an end user. Someone here could get feverish and make a quick offer. I have seen it happen many times here. So setting prices is tricky, personally I say make a deal and sell at the fair market value or just below. There are only a few names that I have become attached to, these arent sports cards with centimental value, you have to know when to part ways.

Definitely a nice domain catch.

Excellent name. Malibu real estate is way up there and the domain would be ideal for local realtor or travel/tourism pro. Would hold this name and not sell for anything less than $XX,XXX.

Great Reg,

Didn't myrtlebeach.tv go for $16,000?

Really nice pick up,

I seem to remember someone ( may have been you Malibumobile) saying it was $500 regfee, if that's so then it must go down as an absoloute steal.

I can confirm 100% that Malibu.tv was $500. I almost pulled the trigger on Malibu.tv for $500 I own malibubeach.tv which I got for reg fee so instead I put the money elsewhere and for $500 each I picked up the following cities near me:

pasadena.tv
santamonica.tv (Also home to Demand Media)
palmsprings.tv (Huge Honeymoon, gambling. golf and resort destination outside of LA)
bakersfield.tv (near LA MSA 780,000K +)

I'm just curious on malibu.tv people are saying it was such a steal (which I am not disagreeing on) But it was still available most of the first day. I took the above cities in the first hour and saw Malibu there several hours later. So why did it last so long? Is it because people didn't know about it?
