Yes I can confirm that I have gone off the deep end! I have finally taken the plunge and purchased my first premium name! It is a $500 renewal... :tri: Escrow just closed on a nice package and thought maybe I should re-invest a portion and what better way to do that than spend $500 at once! I spent a few hours the other day putting together a list of names that I like for $500. I had about 8 on that list and so far vintage.tv was taken by another member here. Overall there were 5 I was thinking of and now there are 3 of those left. After alot of deliberation I decided to go with the statistics. I checked each and every extension of every name I was thinking about, I checked overture, google results and trends. I also had to decide onhow unique the name was. For example if you bought snake.tv you should also buy snakes.tv IMO. So I wanted to buy a n ame that was unique. For example if you add exercise or another word in front of equipment it gets very long and the value diminishes. I also wanted a lot of potential end users. After running down the overture list for equipment it looks like this:

Showbiz's thread with the subdomains was a good idea (though I have seen it before), for example: fitness.equipment.tv !!! I also noticed the guy who owns equipment.com wants a cool million on sedo. I thought if I pay to feature equipment.tv maybe Ill get a bite or two! IMO it was a really good buy. I went by the numbers. Hopefully it will pay off. Opinions and appraisals are very welcome! Let me have it!

In all reality no. I am a reseller. If had to develop it I would probably just put up a directory to get all the stats blah blah blah. My real ineterest is to sell to an end user obviously, or a rich speculator! I had a few other choices but this had the most generic appeal since there are litereally over 1000 different kinds of equipment. I like the potential with subdomains, I wonder if you could just lease out the subdomains to different kinds of equipment companies and stores etc.

Thanks everyone. I get a little worried from time to time that I am getting sucked in! But I have learned to have confidence in my aquisitions. Over the last year and have sold every single name I have bought on the after market to date. :sold: So far the most expensive name I have bought was only $100 which I was able to sell 3 days later for $300. This is far and away the largest aquisition for myself. While I do have many great names I was lucky enough to get those through diligence and hard work at regfee. I really like this name and its chances of resale. I think alot of investers overlooked it because of the poor way the premium search interface was created, it was extremely difficult to get to the early alphabet section of the $500 premiums. I am goign to put it on the front page of every Sedo site for as long as it takes to get the price I want. :yell:
