Apollo on Afternic?

I was just looking at my sales history on Afternic and someone with the user name Apollo purchased most of my domains over the years. Does anyone know who Apollo is and how to contact this person, via Afternic or any other means? Whoever this is, has a great ability to flip domains as the whois for all of the domains I sold to Apollo is not the same any more.

Check the whois on those domains and you will see all kinds of data, others already pointed out how it works

Had a few XXX & XXXX sales through Appolo too.
But this has been in the news.

It's Afternic but it's for client acquisition. I would imagine that the username is used for domains purchased at one of their other sites. For example, if you hit BIN on GoDaddy it'll show up on Afternic as Apollo since that buyer doesn't have an Afternic account.

Hang on. I've just thought about what you said. It must be more complicated than that. All my listings don't qualify for Afternic's Premium Network, because they are Make Offer. My domains are separately listed on GoDaddy as Make Offer. So why should Apollo be bidding on my domains?

Afternic's brokers use the account Apollo when acting on behalf of their clients. They don't want you to know anything about the buyer, because you could potentially avoid paying Afternic's commission if you did.

I guess same thing applies for 'hu weisheng' account on dropcatch(?) Many marketplaces use this kind of service.

I don't think that explains what's going on. IMHO.
Apollo is afternic. When somebody makes offer on Godaddy or buys a premium domain on godaddy it is handled by Apollo a.k.a Afternic.

Apollo have bought about ten names from me at Afternic. Apollo is a nice guy.

And yeah, Apollo = Afternic = Alias

Apollo is TDNAM holding group. So there must be different guys from time to time. ;)

So far the answers here have not covered this scenario. My domains are not Buy Now. So what is prompting Apollo to make bids, and negotiate, on my domains?

I answered your question here.

OK. That would explain it. A buyer approaches Afternic to buy/find a domain name for them, rather than to do the work themselves.

But some of the explanations here talk about buyers on Afternic's Premium Network, which I don't think is the answer, since I've sold domains also to Apollo, and I have zero domains on their Premium Network.

If an offer is made, you can see the username of the buyer. Not apollo. Once I got an offer from a user whose username was his real name. The sale ended up at escrow, bypassing afternic.

This thread makes me want to list my names on Afternic too! I don't care if it's purchased by Apolla or Xena or Hercules.

Godaddy username or Afternic username?

Apollo is Afternic. Why they didn't just call their house account "Afternic" instead of getting cute is beyond me, it makes for a lot of confusion. I'd love to see them change it.

I'll tag @Joe Styler who will tell you the same. He can probably also clarify what situations you'd see Apollo, but I believe it is used by all brokers and also all premium network sales (basically any time the other party doesn't have or need an Afternic account).
