I was just looking at my sales history on Afternic and someone with the user name Apollo purchased most of my domains over the years. Does anyone know who Apollo is and how to contact this person, via Afternic or any other means? Whoever this is, has a great ability to flip domains as the whois for all of the domains I sold to Apollo is not the same any more.

I'm pretty sure it's an Afternic alias so the original buyer can remain anonymous

Yes, but isn't there a way to contact this person through Afternic?

I don't understand what you're asking; an alias is a false username, there is no-one behind that username except the escrow team (probably) of afternic

Again, I'm only assuming that's the case. If you really want to know 100% for sure, just contact them.

I am obviously asking because if this person bought a bunch of domain names from me alone, there must be many other members that have dealt with this buyer and perhaps someone knows who this is. If knowing who this person is was an easy task I would not post the question.
If that person prefers to remain private than nobody knows, but many people would not care if anyone knew an alias or not. Or maybe whoever Apollo is, will see this post and contact me directly. We are taking about someone who was behind like 80% of my Afternic sales, so I can't fathom that nobody knows what I am talking about. The names this person was buying were all over the spectrum, not just one particular niche.

I know exactly what you're referring to OP.
This same username has bought at full BIN price some of my domains in recent months there.

The weird thing is they are all in different niches and if i'm honest they weren't the worlds best names either.

I wondered at the time who it was but the buyer puts instant privacy on his buys so couldn't ever discover who it is. Unless like the poster said above it's just an Afternic alias and that's it?

It's a real mystery IMO.

I think @Hypersot is spot on but I'm not 100% sure.

I've wondered exactly the same thing. I never knew Afternic allowed buyer aliases. I want one too :)

This is Afternic's username I presume for sales occurring in their extended network as I don't know who else would be buying so many names (all of my sales on Afternic had Apollo as username).

Apollo is Afternic. There is no debate or discussion on the topic. It's just a fact.

Yeah, most/all my sales with Afternic show this username as well when the sale happens on other registrars websites for "buy it now" premium network thing.

Shane has already said all there is to say about Apollo..
there was still a leak regarding this "user" enabling others to see all domains "he" has bought, making visible which domains are selling on Afternic day in, day out.. but GD has closed that since they are so tight arsed about not revealing any financials since entering their quiet period for the IPO preparation back then..

What? They are buying domains on their platform for resale other customers enquiries?

Other customers. It's not some evil plot. Though, even if they were buying for resale I'd have no problem with it.

So Apollo isn't Afternic? I'm confused?

It's Afternic but it's for client acquisition. I would imagine that the username is used for domains purchased at one of their other sites. For example, if you hit BIN on GoDaddy it'll show up on Afternic as Apollo since that buyer doesn't have an Afternic account.

That makes sense. Thanks Shane

Got it. Thanks ... and the seller doesn't list directly on GoDaddy (actually recommended by GoDaddy).
