Anyone Own a Wallpaper or Joke Site?

I've a 2 week old wallpaper website that's getting 700 uniques a day and growing fast - 280 members signed-up in the 2 weeks.

I've loaded Adsense, and some other PPC programs from CJ and Clickbank. Unfortunately, there has been virtually zero clicks or leads so far. I've applied to 2 CPM programs (Burst! and FastClick) but have been rejected.

Hence, my questions are:

a) Is there any CPM program that accepts wallpaper & joke website?

b) What's the best advertisment/program that can be run on these types of high-churn websites?

Yeah, that's what I thought. I guess my only strategy is to build traffic first, though it's gonna be a while till I can generate 2000 uniques a month ...if ever The good news is membership jumped from 280 to 345 in the last 24 hours, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Got it - will remove 1 line off my sig.

nice traffic you have there already my joke site started thursday and yesturday got 80 something uniques so its getting there, but it'll start getting hard soon

I am having the same problem, Wallpaper sites have bad CTR, and Picture sites do worse. But it does bring people in. In 3 months since I launched I have had over 1 million page impressions, and over 100000 uniques, and almost no ad clicks... :P Still Google AdSense placed properly does the best for me so far.

How to make money w/ funny...

I know these guys in Canada who run this site:

They make and made bank. :gl: They basically kept the site funny, simple, created a newsletter to do secondary marketing and run a combo of cpa,cpm,cpc ads. Check them out for a template. The ads they are running are main stream brand - probably picked up from adnetworks like cj or advertising.com, azoogle, or by directly soliciting their consumer base to the advertiser. They weren't always like that though. I suggest checking out their site to get some inspiration for how to make money from funny. >^,,^< - tia fix

If your looking for CPM ads, I got accepted at http://www.realtechnetwork.com/network/index.php.

It pays very little, but provides a constant stream of pennies.

Their ads are not that great either, sometimes not showing, and sometimes have errors.

Its the only cpm site that has accepted me so far. Hope burst will accept me, but I am not holding my breath.

targetfirst may accept your site, the good thing about them is you can choose what kind of ads you ant displayed. i just started with them though so i cant tell you if they pay well.

I'm trying not to do pop-ups. Personally, I get annoyed by them and I wouldn't want visitors to my website to feel the same. Thus, I'm looking for text/banned ad CPM.

As you can see I'm trying to create loyalty there by running contests, encouraging them to post their desktop screenshots and giving out free emails

The site I posted has the option of no pop ups. I dont employ them. I havent seen a pop up on my site, in IE or FF, It is cpm.
Their pay is approx
10000 impressions will earn you 1.00, 0.10cpm

and it goes up the more clicks you get(i get very little)

Just an update. After almost 2 months, the number of members are now more than 2,000 and I'm getting approx. 800 uniques/day.

Completely given up on CPM and now only have 2 Google ads on my pages (468x60 text and 125x125 banner) - I think the visitors appreciate it. CTR has increased to 0.5% and earning's about $4x.xx a month.
