Hi guys,

An internet marketer recently "lost" a domain name to a group called Oregon
Names. By losing I mean he didn't renew it on time, it expired and got deleted,
then re-registered by another.

Here's what the WHOIS details reveals (without giving the name, of course):

Registrar: FindUAName
Referral URL: http://www.finduaname.com

Domain Registrant: OregonNames ([email protected])
Domain Administrator
115 NW 1st St., Suite 300
Portland OR 97209
US
Telephone: +1.5032245909

Administrative, Technical Contact: OregonNames ([email protected])
Domain Administrator
115 NW 1st St., Suite 300
Portland OR 97209
US
Telephone: +1.5032245909

Name Server: dns1.oregonnames.com
Name Server: dns2.oregonnames.com

Domain creation date: 10-17-2005
Domain expiration date: 10-17-2006

He's looking into contacting them and see if they're amenable to selling it back
to him at whatever price. The domain's WHOIS details is a start, but I'm just
wondering if anyone knows a little more info about them to possibly help the
guy get a "little more leverage", if possible.

FindUAName looks like a "shell registrar" since all it's got is a search page and
a link to send them an email. Searching finduaname.com in WHOIS suggests
it's for Enom.

I tried searching here and the other forums but haven't had much luck.

I'm from Oregon, and I've never heard of them. I did a google search under their address and phone, but all I get are who-is sites. Good luck with the search :|

Well I'm always up for a little phone action, so I called.

"We are a domain name holding company, and we currently do not offer any domain names for sale. Thank you."

Sounds nice enough on the phone, however ;)

Thanks, Allan. I guess that clinches it.

Unfortunately I'll have to be the bearer of bad news to the guy I'm trying to
help out. Since he doesn't have a registered TM, it's going to cost him a lot of
dough to even possibly prove common law TM rights.

Some of the people at DNF also replied they're actually Snapnames, so I'm not
surprised if it's true. Apparently they're into the game, now.
