I just put up a one page website recently but even though the name servers still look correct in the whois records the page goes to a PPC parking page that is something to do with nuseek.com.

The owner of nuseek.com has privacy protect on.

Anyone know whats going on here ?

Thanks :tu:

What, nobody likes a good mystery anymore? :hehe:

I suppose there could be a reasonable explanation for all this but at the moment I don't see it...hence help is needed.

anyway, I'll soldier on ...this is what i have found out so far, any help from a domain techie on this would be greatly appreciated cos I'm just fumbling along in the dark :tu:

A quick search in Google for - nuseek.com brings up the following:

NuSeek.com is suspected of possibly being a site engaged in fradulent activity
http://www.aboutus.org/NuSeek.com

Seems Nuseek.com is being accused by others of using hijacking techniques and have done so before on a number of domains or websites.

Note > My domain only sometimes goes to their parking page at certain times of the day which leads me to beleive they are somehow skimming a percentage of my traffic and redirecting it to their own PPC landing page.

so

Who owns the domain Nuseek.com ?

Nuseek.com - registered in 2005-08-25

Nameservers
dns1.name-services.com
dns2.name-services.com
dns3.name-services.com
dns4.name-services.com
dns5.name-services.com

Registrar - Enom, Inc

Registrant Contact: Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc

email - qkxfwrrgt@whoisprivacyprotect . com

Notice above the Name servers are set to name-services.com

.................................................................................

so...Who owns the domain name-services.com ?

domain > name-services.com > registered in 2001-06-11

Nameservers
dns1.name-services.com
dns2.name-services.com
dns3.name-services.com
dns4.name-services.com
dns5.name-services.com

The Parking page for this domain is the same as the one parked on my domain - which also shows it is downloading from nuseek.com

Register - Enom, Inc

Registrant Contact: "eNom, Inc."

email - DNS manager legal ( @ ) name-services.com

so it appears so far that both domains are using the same nameservers and that enom owns the domain name-services.com.

..................................................................................................

So does Enom actually own the domain name-services.com ?

The whois for Enom.com domain shows they also use the same name servers

Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM

So it would "appear" to me that Enom owns the following 3 domains which all use the same name servers.

Nuseek.com < the culprit "that looks as if" it is benefiting from MY TRAFFIC by redirecting it to a PPC page which is held on Enom servers.

Name-services.com

...and of course Enom.com

................................................................

Enom also "appear" to own the following domains which all go to the same looking/style PPC parking page and all download from Nuseek.com.

They also all use the same nameservers as above and show whoisprivacyprotect.com administrative contact emails.

Administrative Contact: Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc
(for all domains listed below)

name-services100.com

name-services101.com

name-services102.com

name-services103.com

name-services104.com

name-services105.com

name-services106.com

name-services107.com

name-services107.com

name-services108.com

name-services109.com

name-services110.com

......................................................................................................

This all leads me to other questions I need to find answers for

1) Does Enom or Namemedia own/run the register Answerable.com (formerly Directi.com) where my "problem" domain is currently registered.

2) could my register (answerable.com) somehow be redirecting some traffic ?

3) ^ if so, how does it benefit them. ie: does enom have a PPC account for other people ?

4) Does Enom only use their own PPC parking pages or do they use other peoples services.

5) Could this be a problem to do with my Hosting space perhaps ? If it has been hacked then how does this benefit the hacker if the PPC landing pages belong to Enom ?

6) could this somehow be a web forwarding issue...by hook or by crook ?

and last (for now) but not least...

7) How come a percentage of my traffic is getting directed to an Enom PPC parking page when my name servers are set to my hosting account ????

I am not much of a techie so there may just be an easy explanation for all this - if not then its a BIG can of worms !

Any help or advice from the Pros would be most appreciated :)

Thanks :tu:

PS - If anyone here from Enom or Namemedia are here I would be interested to hear your opinions on any of the above.

I registered on this forum just to reply to your post! I will have a look around though while I am here as there appears to be some good conversation going around.

Anyway, I am curious about this nus__k.com (I won't type the actual link as I don't want to give them more traffic!) I stumbled upon a portal site, which I hate if you cannot tell by my name, and the portal was linked to this Nus__k.com page, which had no contact information or copyright information at all. This made me curious. I am on a quest to stop these BS companies from buying up all the good domain names and putting these fraudulent portal sites up.

Here is some inofmation that I dug up. Check this link:
http://whois.domaintools.com/nuseek.com

In the section where the IP is listed you can see the location of the server which is operated by the huge company akamai. This can be deciphered in various ways. I doubt this company would engage in business such as hijacking domains and stealing web traffic, but then again you never know! The more probable answer is that the IP is masked, or akamai is the innocent middle man supplying the DNS management for the culprit.

I would like to get to the bottom of this, as my quest has nearly just begun to weed out the troublemakers of the internet! Any resolutions about this website in question I would definitely like to hear.

You cannot rely on whois information. Most people who do these types of things protect their ID by paying for it. The domain that I just registered and set up as private shows the same name servers as you listed, and I am not affiliated with the site you named nor enom.

My first post did not show up for some reason, even though it says that I made it and shows that I made 2 (three now) posts. If it does not show up by tomorrow I will repost the information that I initially tried to give you regarding your questions.

Your post was too long for me to read it all. I've had problems on occasion with eNom's DNS, where the whois said one thing whilst the namesrvers for the domain said something else (and it wasn't just a dns cache issue). I've also changed the nameservers and they never resolved to the new servers. Sometimes this had to do with the domain being in a Magic Folder (although still illogical). My solution was to remove it from the magic folder and change the nameservers (ie to a different parking company) so you can tell the changes have been made. Then when everything lines up, change it back to where you wanted.

My guess is this was a recent purchase and it's resolving to the previous nameservers.

Directi own Answerable.
