I was going to register some that would quite web 2.0 for example search.ie etc. Going for mostly one word dictionaries. But also words ending in ie, like mov.ie

Can anyone tell me if they are worth anything?
Can they be sold? How would I transfer if the buyer isn't Irish?
Would you consider these an investment?

Any advice appreciated.

I am not sure but i think to register these a .ie you have to have a ltd business registered in Ireland, There are alot available words left though,

Restriction for domain : .ie

Companies worldwide are allowed to register .IE Domains. However in order to register, applicants must provide certain supporting information:
1. If the applicant based in Ireland: An Irish Company Number or an Irish Trademark number must be submitted to the IE Domain Registry.
2. If the applicant based in the UK: A Company number or UK Trademark number and information showing that the company\'s has a connection to Ireland must be submitted to the IE Domain Registry. Copies of one or more invoices showing a trade connection with Ireland will be sufficient to show a connection to Ireland.
3. If the applicant based outside of Ireland and the UK: A Company Certificate or Trademark Certificate and Information showing that the company\'s has a trade Connection with Ireland must be submitted to the IE Domain Registry. Copies of one or more invoices showing a trade connection with Ireland will be sufficient to show a connection to Ireland.
There is no limitation on quantities of domains that can be registered, but if the name selection is not linked to a trademark or a company name, the choice must be convincingly explained to the Registry in the form of a detailed letter.
Explicit / immoral domains and domains that reflect Irish geographical place names are not authorized and will be rejected by the registry.
The IE Domain Registry policies apply to every registration and all applicants must provide the necessary supporting information or documentation within 30 days of your order in order for your application to be accepted.

.ie is restricted but popular in Ireland. The TLD is trusted as it's not open to anyone but it's not cheap... If you are eligible I think it is worth having at least a few. At this price I would avoid domain hacks (waste of a good TLD).

You are years too late.

Can anyone tell me if they are worth anything?
Yes.

Can they be sold?
Theoretically, no.

How would I transfer if the buyer isn't Irish?
Are you Irish or have you significant connections to Ireland? That's a rather important aspect of actually getting a .ie domain. The .ie is a managed ccTLD and that means that proof of entitlement is required to obtain a domain.

Would you consider these an investment?
No. It is a ccTLD and the rules can change.

Any advice appreciated.
Forget about it. Go find some repurposed or badly run ccTLD like .eu - it will be less hassle.
