Any way to see traffic?

I'm looking at a domain to buy...can I somehow see the traffic amount without asking current owner ?...I dont want to tip him off that I'm interested in the domain.

You can check its Alexa ranking, but that will only give you a vague idea if it even gets traffic.

Interesting site. I'd never heard of compete.com before. How on earth do they do it? I plugged in my main hobby site and their visitor guestimate was pretty close. I'll certainly use this tool again. Very informative. No idea how they do it.
