Just an observation as a Domain Investor who also watches a lot of movies - it seems to me that companies have a variety of ways to hand-register movie name domains for advertising rather than purchase on the aftermarket.

I have seen a huge number of combination and permutations including:
Name.com
NameMovie.com
Name-Movie.com
TheNameMovie.com
TheName-Movie.com
MovieName.com
Movie-Name.com
etc

For those who specialize in specific Movie domains, how difficult is it to sell?

Cheers

Are you talking about registering the actual movie name?

For instance:
TheGodfather.com
TheGodfatherMovie.com
TheGodfather-Movie.com
etc.

or am I misunderstanding what it is you're saying?

Registering for your own personal use I wouldn't see "much" of a problem with, but registering with the sole intention of selling them on for a profit strikes me as being something of a legal minefield.

I would imagine they might also prove quite difficult to sell, considering the relatively short shelf life of the average movie.

I've regd a couple over the years. Some have made a little income via PPC but traffic is by it's nature very much shortlived.

Approaching the movie makers to sell, as domaino has said would be a bit risky but if they approached you, then you might expect a decent offer. Of course depends how 'generic' the domain really is....

Too scary with TM hassles, people aren't regging them much. Still happens, but rarely. A lot of people look at my 'availables' list and see occasional movie names I post, and they don't get regged. I posted death-race.com a couple weeks back and it's still available, which shows how cautious we all are about movie names these days. I used to have a good moviename.info but let it expire.

Thanks for the replies.

I was wondering if anyone had success selling these names to the movie makers as it would seem quite difficult and it sounds like it is.
